I'm trying to convince my hubby to let me get a new sofa but he says I have to sell the other one....how much would you pay for it?

OP posts:

£300 possibly £400 depending on age/condition/etc

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/02/2019 08:54

And I would want to ask questions like do u have pets?
Do u smoke in the home?

CallMeSirShotsFired · 21/02/2019 08:55

Second hand?

maybe £100?

ChangoMutney · 21/02/2019 08:57

£80 I’ve been keeping an eye on sofas on eBay and that’s the kind of price that style goes for.

talktoo · 21/02/2019 09:34

Totally depends. Is it a fancy Italian brand or a very solidly built traditional maker or is it from IKEA or DFS?

CallMeSirShotsFired · 21/02/2019 09:54

Does it even matter talktoo?

Sofas are ten a penny all over sales and social media sites; so they really aren't going to get anything more than a fraction of their original cost. Sellers can be choosy with such a glut.

CoperCabana · 21/02/2019 09:57

Your one looks quite new. Why do you need a new one? A new sofa for you means another sofa in landfill probably. Consider whether you really ‘need’ one.

redhat · 21/02/2019 10:01

what is wrong with it? Presumably something is or you wouldn't be selling it.

QuirkyQuark · 21/02/2019 10:05

Sofas are really only selling for about £100 or so if in decent condition. I researched a lot before selling our very good condition ones.

Bigonesmallone3 · 21/02/2019 10:11

My sister sold a dfs 3 seater sofa for £200..
It's all about whether u find the buyer I guess

MyDcAreMarvel · 21/02/2019 10:15

£100 those low back ones are very uncomfortable .

LindaLa · 21/02/2019 10:27

Too many questions to say a price.

How long have you had it?
House smoke free?
Any pets?
Kids?
It's very close to the kitchen, that would concern me.

£100-200 is my bed though.

LindaLa · 21/02/2019 10:28

Bet not bed.
I do not sleep on sofas.

mrsm43s · 21/02/2019 14:43

It's hard to get more than £100 for a second hand sofa whatever the condition, and however much it cost when new.

TBH, its often hard to give away 2nd hand sofas.

burritofan · 21/02/2019 18:43

If it helps I'm currently eBaying a two-seater sofa with a starting price of £35, expecting to have to reduce it.

There's not a lot of market for 2nd hand sofas – loads for sale, and unless it meets specific requirements in terms of measurements, aesthetic, location, no one wants to pay a fortune (understandably).

goingtotown · 21/02/2019 20:11

Secondhand sofas are difficult to sell, you’d be lucky to get £100. Buyer will have to pay someone to collect & deliver.

HappydaysArehere · 22/02/2019 09:29

You have to have that fire label on it before you can sell it or give to charity shops.

ssd · 22/02/2019 14:33

I'd keep it its really nice

Letthemysterybe · 23/02/2019 17:37

I reckon a sofa like that would be in at £200 in my local BHF furniture shop. But they do only charge a tenner for delivery. And there are always a few sofas there so people pop in and can see them ‘in the flesh’ . I think on selling sites it might go for £100.
