I would like to paint my hall stairs and landing in a warm grey (not dark) I'm fed up looking at books and testers...any advice please! (Deluxe paint)

Polished Pebble seems to be the go to grey which doesn't have blue undertones x

StuntCroissant · 10/02/2019 19:37

Quartz Grey (Dulux Heritage)?

I second dulux's polished pebble.

scaredofthecity · 10/02/2019 19:44

Don't! It's a fad and it's on its way out!

misstakenone · 10/02/2019 19:46

just walnut is a great neutral greige - not beige, not grey - i love it and inadvertently chose it twice for 2 different areas of the house.

TeddyIsaHe · 10/02/2019 19:47

You’ll repaint in a year or two if you do grey now. It’s so overdone and just look horrid now (sorry!!)

QuitMoaning · 10/02/2019 19:50

@TeddyIsaHe
What ‘non horrid’ neutral colour do you suggest then?

I have grey in my house and really love it but not fussed if it goes out of fashion but would struggle to choose another background colour in it’s place.

Laura Ashley pale dove grey... ok not dulux but it’s the perfect grey!

bellinibobble · 10/02/2019 19:55

We painted our bedroom polished pebble and instantly painted over it as it drove me crazy. It looked blue, purple and grey at different times of the day and in different points in the room. It. Was. Awful.

F&B Pavilion Grey is lovely

fruitpastille · 10/02/2019 20:06

Not grey but I really like Dulux nutmeg.

ShortandSweet96 · 10/02/2019 20:09

My lighter wall is polished pebble.
The darker wall is natural slate.
I love the contrast between the two.

Dulux Goose Down. I think grey is timeless so can't understand why people say it is a fad.

Soosiesoo · 10/02/2019 20:13

I find Dulux Polished pebble a very very cool grey. I have Dulux Pebble Shore in a few rooms and it's a really lovely warm grey that isn't too dark. Don't be put off by the sample strip on the outside of the container, it's not especially accurate!

As an aside, Dulux crispy crumble is a creamy/taupe shade which is lovely. Defo more cream than taupe, though.

kittybee · 10/02/2019 20:14

Cornforth White by Farrow and Ball is a beautiful, pale, warm grey. I’d suggest getting it colour matched rather than paying F&B prices. I agree that grey (within reason) is timeless.

sophster10 · 10/02/2019 20:24

Thank you to everyone for your thoughts. I'm thinking Just Walnut might be a good choice!

I have Just Walnut throughout my entire house. It's not beige and it's not grey - it's just a really classy pale shade that complements everything

Zitouna · 14/02/2019 13:36

We’ve just painted ours deluxe heritage quartz grey - mentioned by pp. Here it is (still waiting wood floor and proper lights, but you can kind of see)

Dulux heritage even!

Imperfectsusan · 15/02/2019 23:43

I think polished pebble is quite cold.

Nearlyadoctor · 16/02/2019 15:43

We’ve just had the lounge and dining room done in polished pebble and I don’t think it’s cold at all.

We've got polished pebble in the bathroom. I'll post a pic when the light's better. It came out a lot paler than I thought and I wish I had gone for chic shadow which is a shade darker apparently.

BringMeTea · 19/02/2019 20:30

Dulux Swansdown. Very pale. Lovely.

Linguaphile · 20/02/2019 14:20

F&B Ammonite is the perfect delicate warm grey in my opinion. One shade lighter than cornforth white on the colour card. I’ve got it in my lounge and it’s never cold but also not brown.
