Morning,

Would you go for vinyl or porcelain tiles for a bathroom floor?

Also does anyone have any recommendations for mid price decent vinyl please?

By advice would be great! thank you

Both are practical, long lasting and waterproof, OP. I’ve got one of each in my bathrooms. If you’re not having underfloor heating, vinyl is a bit warmer for bare feet, and quicker to lay than tiles, but it’s really down to your own preference.
There are huge ranges of styles in both, the choices are endless. I’ve got one vinyl that looks like pale wood flooring and is cushioned underneath to be thick and comfy, and I’m getting one bathroom floor done this month in a ceramic tile that looks like dark wood flooring with matched edging tiles that look like skirting boards. The vinyl has so far lasted 20 years and has a lifetime guarantee. I’ll have to wait and see with the tiles!

Vinyl or LVT of some type with some sort of pattern however minimal.

Had beautiful white porcelain tiles in last bathroom, which showed every hair and bit of dust even immediately after hoovering and were freezing on the feet!

Vinyl - no grout!

We are having LVT:

I have dark blue tiles on our bathroom floor with a greyish grout. Down for nearly 19 years, they still look great.

We have tiles but with underfloor heating. Otherwise they are really cold!

Consider Karndean or Amtico as an alternative to vinyl, we have it in our mitchen from previous owners and it's really smart and hard wearing.

MarmiteTermite · 06/01/2019 11:48

I thought Kandean and Amtico were vinyl?

Bringbackthestripes · 06/01/2019 11:52

Vinyl. Cheaper to lay, comfy and warmer underfoot. I’m too clumsy for tiles. I wouldn’t want to risk dropping a bottle of foundation and chipping a tile.

@MarmiteTermite

Yes, sorry it is vinyl, but not your usual spongy vinyl that comes on a roll which is what i imagine whenever i hear the word "vinyl flooring"

I have vinyl in one, tiles in another and LVT in another.

Vinyl we had to get someone in to lay it, it was cushioned and the one we chose was prone to ripping if you were laying it yourself. We got a sample so were working out if we could lay it ourselves. We are very competent DIYers, we have fitted entire bathrooms but I couldn't risk it.

Tile is cold underfoot, I did lay that myself and wish I hadn't laid it but luckily it is in a cloakroom and not a full bathroom.

LVT was very easy to lay, warm underfoot and waterproof which was important in the children's bathroom.

Should have said, vinyl is easy to change out if you fancy something different or it gets damaged. Tiles are much more difficult to change, hence why I have left mine laid down.

Karndean or Amtico for me.
