Hoping the attachments work. So have solid oak shaker doors on good quality kitchen cabinets. The natural wood is not my taste and makes the kitchen look very dark. I really can’t justify the cost of a new kitchen when the cupboards work well. We’re on a very tight budget so I’ve decided to paint them, but am driving myself crazy going round in circles on Pinterest, houzz etc.
I have white walls (which I like), slate floors (don’t like but can’t afford to replace) and am going to replace the hideous black laminate with a wood worktop (marble, quartz etc would have been my first choice but can’t afford it and laminate marble looks awful). Am going to replace handles.
So hoping you helpful people can advise.
Firstly, which colour? I swing between painting the cabinets: A) dark (eg down pipe, graphite etc) to blend into the floor and hopefully make the floor space appear bigger. B) light (eg duck egg blue, French grey, slipper satin, skimming stone) to blend into the walls and make it look big and light. Or wildcard C) a bright mint or even pink/coral to lift everything...rest of the house is quite quirky (insanely steep street, mural on outside, bright coral front door), but then also like the thought of a bright but restful space.
The second issue is what paint to use. I actually don’t want a smooth professional finish. I want it to look old and not like a fitted kitchen, so don’t mind if the paint chips. I’d like to keep some of the wood grain texture. Am I best going eggshell or chalk paint?
Thanks in advance.
