what would you think if you walked into a hall with these tiles?

I have a horrible feeling that they would look awful in real life and not jolly ( I have parked them in the 'jolly' section of my decor head). I have loved them for about 2 months now online!!! Please be honest before i make an expensive mistake.

I would put them styled with a cabinet like the pic! except that my 1/2 painted wall would be more a terracotta colour or a very dark blue.
We are a family of 5, 3 kids under 7, and its a north facing hall in a modern house.

Sorry, OP, I really don't like them. I love Victorian tiled hallways but think those look a bit odd.

Zulor · 04/12/2018 09:49

They'd be fine in a large space like a hotel lobby, but in a hallway, they would look cluttered.

justme28 · 04/12/2018 09:49

I actually really like them. They're so different.

Riotingbananas · 04/12/2018 09:53

I think they look OK in one of the photos with the cabinet, but when you see them in the other pictures, they look dirty. For a hall, that probably isnt what you'd want as a starting point as they will actually get dirty, and they are going to need cleaning every day being monochrome.

Ofitck · 04/12/2018 09:53

I quite like them! I wouldn’t be brave enough to choose them but I do think they’re very cool

FruminousBandersnatch · 04/12/2018 09:54

Love them!

MsJolly · 04/12/2018 09:56

Not for me sorry-unless your hallway is massive they will just look a bit odd.

Popchyk · 04/12/2018 09:56

I'm not keen either.

That kind of grey with darker tones throughout it can just look dirty.

They look messy from the get-go and with three young children, I just wouldn't.

In the large picture, it looks like the grouting is filthy (I know it isn't, it is just the effect on the floor).

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 04/12/2018 09:57

I love them, I would agonise over how to lay the ‘pattern’ though

HumpHumpWhale · 04/12/2018 09:58

I love them but agree it would need to be a fairly big hall. I don't think they're at all jolly, though!

mirren3 · 04/12/2018 09:59

Same as Ginger. If it's a long hall, I think they'd be fine, but if it was a wee square, no way. What are the hall measurements?

SpamChaudFroid · 04/12/2018 10:01

I like them - they lend themselves well to that retro Danish/sputnik style that's popular now.

Her0utdoors · 04/12/2018 10:01

I'd absolutely love them, but I wouldn't use the ones that are a square within the tile, the border looks incongruous.

Monty27 · 04/12/2018 10:05

I like them. Quirky Smile

Bluntness100 · 04/12/2018 10:08

I like them too, they are different but neutral enough. I wouldn't lay them in a tiny square hall, but a larger or long one and I think they will look fine.

I also woildnt use terracotta with them but the dark blue would work.

Thistledew · 04/12/2018 10:10

You would need a tiler with a very good eye to lay them. 'Random' is actually very hard to do well and actually requires quite a lot of thought as it never looks quite right if you actually put them down randomly. It would also work better in a larger space and would not do so well in a narrow corridor. Apart from that, I like them.

GemmeFatale · 04/12/2018 10:17

I really like them. Blue over terracotta I think.

whatswithtodaytoday · 04/12/2018 10:27

They're interesting, and I think could look good in an ultra-modern or Art Deco style, open plan house with a large floor area. In a normal British house, no.

If you Google the name you'll find a few more photos.

greendale17 · 04/12/2018 10:30

I actually like them too. You need a good wide hallway though

TeaStory · 04/12/2018 10:32

I’d think it was one of those IQ tests where you have to match up the rotated image. Sorry!

Enb76 · 04/12/2018 10:32

I really like them - I don't think you'd need a really wide hallway, you'd just need more white space than patterned. I'm now tempted!

lottiegarbanzo · 04/12/2018 10:38

Great in a big space. Would need to be kept clean - whereas many patterned hall tiles do a great job of being complicated enough to hide small marks.

Pieceofpurplesky · 04/12/2018 10:44

They would stress me out. Everything needs to be in an ordered pattern

SoupDragon · 04/12/2018 10:45

they lend themselves well to that retro Danish/sputnik style that's popular now.

The problem with that is that they aren't easy to change if that becomes unpopular. My personal opinion is that where things are difficult to change it's better to go neutral and save the "statement" look for things that can be changed when you no longer like them.

AlexanderHamilton · 04/12/2018 10:50

They look dirty to me. Like they havn't been cleaned properly.
