Upvc windows - how to fit blinds!

Can anyone help me with regards to attaching blinds in the window recess if you have upvc double glazing all the way round?

I have quite shallow windows (2" visible recess) - they look absolutely fine but I can't work out where I should be attaching blinds. I thought puncturing the plastic window frame wasn't recommended.

I don't have any 'wall' inside the recess, only the plastic window frames. Maybe it's just trim Confused

So far all of my blinds are mounted outside the window recess but to me they look messy and I'm not keen on the mechanism sticking out so far from the window.

Sorry for the extremely boring query but I'm flummoxed Grin I know perfect fit blinds are an option but I didn't want to spend that much really. I quite fancied some roman blinds instead of my current roller blinds but not very confident about where to attach them! Any help appreciated!

Sorry I might've answered my own query as I've now seen some pics of roman blinds outside the recess and they look much better than roller blinds!

Watching with interest. We have the same problem in our conservatory where it's all window frames so no proper wall to fix to. The roller blinds we took down (previous owner's) were all screwed to the frames so maybe it's normal to do it like that. No idea, any experts around?

You need to look at Perfect Fit blinds which clip into the window frame.

Thanks CoperCabana, I had a look and they certainly solve the problem but look clinical to me which isn't the look I'm after.

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not alone!

Pre-drill the holes for the brackets straight into the upvc frames. Done it plenty of times and no problems x

Thanks, Leostar . Would they be strong enough to hold normal curtain poles / tracks / curtains? I'm after a cosy furnished feel to the conservatory as we've just had a tiled roof put on.

@goldinthemtherestars - have you considered curtain poles which are attached to the ceiling rather than the wall?

If your windows are quite new and still under warranty I wouldn't suggest drilling into the frames in case it invalidates the warranty.

goldinthemtherestars · 17/11/2018 23:01

MsMamaNature - thank you so much for that idea. I hadn't thought of attaching poles to the ceiling (it's a sloping ceiling straight from the top of the window frames) but I think either of those brackets could work so I could have curtains after all. :)

The conservatory came with the house, we've just replaced a plastic roof with a proper roof but kept the existing windows so no warranty issues but don't like the idea of screwing into the frames anyway and would like it to look like a proper room if we can. Hard with all that glass and plastic but I'm going to try and curtains and poles will really help. :)

We drilled in to the frame, they've been absolutely fine - but our windows are old and don't have a warranty for us to worry about voiding.
