IKEA OMLOPP under cabinet strip lights!

Does anyone have IKEA OMPLOPP under cabinet strip lighting?

Can anyone clarify this for me please as I'm going a bit mad with it.... we have just had an IKEA kitchen delivered, and we have ordered the OMLOPP under cabinet strip lights. I just watched a video on installing these lights, and it seems that they dont actually plug into the wall anywhere, they just run off a big power pack thing that you leave on the top of your wall cabinets... is that right?!

Can someone please tell me "yes that's correct" or have I watched the wrong video?! It seems too easy to be true that we could get under cabinet lights without cutting into the walls to fit more plugs. Does anyone else have these lights? How long do the power packs last for? If the battery runs out, do you just buy a new power pack from ikea?

Sorry for all the questions but we are installing our own kitchen to save money and therefore only have fairly basic knowledge. Hope someone can help! Thanks in advance

Yes this is true, but we had them wired in to a light switch to save having to turn them on and off individually with a fiddly little switch.

Thanks @reallybadidea .... because my father-in-law is an electrician and a few days ago he spent all day cutting holes for plugs and wires into the walls, now half the cabinets are up already and I would feel awful about asking him to take it down and cut some more holes for extra plugs. So can I clarify... they only run on the power bank thing? They dont need plugging in? (Although you have chosen to plug them in for your convenience )

Yes, ours run into the power bank thing and from there into the light switch. If you're retrofitting them have you thought about how you will run the wires and whether you will realistically still be fiddling with the switches in 5 years' time?

We're not retrofitting them, but the remaining electrics are being done today so I dont have long to get the wiring sorted for them!

Sounds good, hope you enjoy them Smile
