Using paint to zone two spaces (kitchen diner/living area)

This is what it currently looks like- behind the wall on the left is the kitchen area with white cupboard fronts. It's a west facing room and can be quite dark, especially in the nearer living area space. I was going to paint it all in a light neutral colour (e.g. elderflower tea dulux shade) and have the archway in a feature colour on both sides of the wall and under the arch (e.g. teal tension or proud peacock). now I'm having doubts! I can't find examples online of people doing this- is this for a reason?!

Would it be better to have all the walls, EXCEPT the current feature walls, in the neutral colour and have the two feature walls in two different tones?! like this www.dulux.co.uk/en/articles/tone-zone

I want the room to feel connected but having two different areas.

I would love advice/opinions. Has anyone done option one? Any photos?

I think like the Dulux picture you linked to would be the best option imo.

If you painted the dividing wall and arch a darker accent colour it could divide the rooms too much and look quite blocky and disconnected iyswim.

Then in each zone bring in splashes of the colour from the other room in cushions, napkins, vases, pictures, kettle, tablecloth etc.

We're in the middle of a similar conundrum having just knocked a wall down between kitchen and sitting room. One of our walls (no divider where the wall used to be) stretches the length of the two rooms, so whatever we paint the kitchen has to go along the whole length down to the cosy sitting area. I am struggling to come up with the right paint for a clean and fresh kitchen end yet warm and cosy sitting room end.

We have an open plan L shaped room. I have painted the 2 outside edges of the L in a pale blue and the 2 inside edges of the L in white, it that makes sense!

I wanted the walls to flow between the areas but have used furnishings, rugs etc and lighting to zone the areas. Works well..

I would do the two areas in two complementary shades of the colour of your choice - a lighter and a darker colours, probably from the same colour card.

A relative did this in a similar room that had been extended - a brighter shade of light green in the bit where the window was, and a paler shade in the darker area. You don't notice that they are different colours unless you look, and it feels cohesive, whilst stopping the room feeling too one-dimensional.

I have the same predicament. I have an open living room/dining room separated by an arch. We moved into the house as it is but I want to get rid of the wallpaper and have no clue what to do. I'll be keeping the existing flooring, furniture etc.
