Displaying stones and shells

I've got loads of stones and shells and bits of wood that I've acquired over the years. Apart from wishing that I'd kept a record about where they're from - too late now, I'd like to be able to display them. They're on shelves or bowls getting dusty and they're so beautiful I'd love to display them in a way which is sustainable and looks good. Objects ranging from 1pm to 15 cm ish. Any ideas?

Ooh Grab an old wooden frame from charity shop (remove glass) go crazy with a hammer and tacks and a glue gun.
Use it to frame a nice beachy pic or bit of old atlas, vintage beachy posters etc. Alternatively you could make it into a corkboard, chalkboard, whiteboard or mirror or if the back of frame is strong enough arrange bits in there if you want you can screw in hooks for keys.

Could arrange them in lines or circles, etc

The smaller ones could go in a printer's tray?

You could put them somewhere special in your garden? Or use a box frame thats deep enough and lie it flat.

My first instinct would be to get printers’ trays and hang them on the wall.

If you ever have the chance to go to Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, you’ll find plenty of inspiration. Very ordinary objects are displayed alongside gloabally significant paintings, and somehow match them for beauty and impact.

Some of the larger items could go under a bell jar, smaller items in large screw top jar like old sweetie jars and driftwood could be glued onto mirror frame or picture frames.
