Matt grey that isn’t blue/purple

Anyone any suggestions?

Our hallway is quite dark, and ideally I’d like a light grey but can only find purple or blue toned ones that when i put on the wall just look purple or blue in the light.

Definitely not wanting Farrow and Ball as find it marks really badly.

F&B Cornforth White - or the one they brought out more recently which is a lighter version of the same shade I forget it's pretentious name

Thanks! Will see if I can colour match it with another brand.

I daren’t risk f&b again after a huge disaster where it marked really badly and wasn’t as wipeable as I’d imagined

Try Egyptian Cotton. I love it and got the entire downstairs painted in it Blush

TQBD · 15/09/2018 20:42

Thank you :) I’ll have a look at that.

Dulux polished pebble do a wipeable version

DrMadelineMaxwell · 15/09/2018 21:02

DD has dulux Chic Shadow in her room and it's a lovely, soft grey with no hint of blue to it.

Depends very much on the light in your house. I have LIttle Greene Inox throughout. Shows as a true grey in some rooms, more green in some, and a blue tinge in others.

AshenFaced · 15/09/2018 21:33

Agree chic shadow has no blueness to it in our house. It verges on the beige side for a grey.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 15/09/2018 23:26

We have chic shadow in one room and polished pebble in another. Both very true grey in our house, though the polished bubble is almost white. The light makes a huge difference though. Chic shadow looks very different on every wall right now depending on the lighting/lamps in the room.

Polished pebble is lovely.

Chic shadow is definitely too dark for the hallway I think, but polished pebble sounds worth a try if it’s a lighter shade. It looked really dark in the shop today!

Thank you

Grey hints in b&q own range, it’s fairly pale, I wouldn’t say it’s blue :/

Polished pebble is much lighter, def worth a tester. Make sure you try any testers on a decent sized area so you get a decent feel how the light will affect it at different times of the day.

Mammaof · 16/09/2018 08:08

We used '' wedding day '' by B&Q, really light and definitely grey x

Polished pebble was too blue for us in our light, and other greys like Dulux just walnut looked pink! In the end we got Dulux heritage ash white....it’s lovely ...an ever so slightly beige grey but no hint of lilac or blue....

If you're painting it because its too dark then I definitley wouldn't paint it Matt grey. The matt makes it look a whole lot darker especially when it's already a dark hallway.

TQBD · 19/09/2018 06:34

Thanks for the suggestions.

It’s currently an awful chalky white colour that just looks grubby. But I like the idea of a white grey rather than a true grey..

Earthborne paint in cats cradle. Lovely grey but with a hint of warmth and not cold.

Dulux Rum Caramel 5 - a friend of mine found it as a colour match for F&B Elephant’s Breath and it’s amazing. Now I use it absolutely everywhere!! A really nice muted grey, almost a bit mocha-y. Looks different in different rooms. I love it.
