Reasonably priced ‘art’

We bought our house a good few years ago but haven’t had a great deal of money to spend on it. I’d like to get some reasonably priced art/prints/images for the walls. Any recommendations for places to look please or ways to fill dull walls? Thank you.

Ooh I love Etsy for this! Recently typed the name of a place we went on holiday and found a lovely print I've ordered, adds a personal, 'memories' touch to the art.

Have a look on Etsy. I've found a couple of lovely pieces on there.

Yes I didn’t think of Etsy, thank you.

I bought a lovely piece of wrapping paper in Waterstones. A frame to fit cost more than the paper. Looks gorgeous in the utility room. Calendars can be good as well. I have a set of postcards for the landing, slowly collecting frames from charity shops as I like the idea of them being a mixture though I might end up painting them when I have enough.

A picture cluster can be a cheap and effective way to fill a wall. You use lots of small images so you don't have to pay a lot for one big piece - you can use a mixture of photos, small artworks, illustrations from books, etc to create a visually interesting group. I have one in my living room and put it together with frames bought from charity shops. I bought a range of different size and style frames and spray painted them all black so they have consistency but aren't too matched.

Sounds good, I should look in charity shops for nice frames and maybe pictures, good point. Will explore and try and find some bits to style together.

What do you consider cheap / affordable? Before my twins were born I used to sell my own artwork on Etsy - originals ranged from £30 - £300 for the really large labour intensive pieces. I had people telling me my work was way too cheap and others telling me my work was way too expensive. The cost of art is very subjective! Etsy is good generally for this sort of thing.

I understand re one offs and unique artwork, I have friends who used to do similarly. I’d love an original but at the moment my budget is more your lower end sadly!

If you do decide on a cluster of pics you might have some lovely birthday cards to frame. Also check out Travel posters online and allposters.co.uk
