Porch on 30s style house with v large arch

I live in a 1930s style house with original double doors and a large open arched porch. It is lovely and suits the house very well, but the original doors are very cold in winter. Despite having a decent heating system, the house gets Arctic cold.

There seems to be 3 choices here: a contrasting modern door (e.g. the heavy oak ones), a replica of the existing doors at the exterior and keeping the interior doors or a simple glass porch door that allows the original doors to be seen. I would like to keep the existing doors if possible.

I was wondering if any MNetters have done this and what option they went for? Thanks!!

Are there similar houses near you? Perhaps you could see what they’ve done. I know of similar houses where they’ve gone for a simple glass porch door.

Have you tried, draught excluder & a door curtain, I have an original Victorian front which is really draughty, I had a door curtain made with a good thick lining has made such a difference.

I never thought of a curtain - I have the room as well!

Thanks for the recommendation!

Yeahy, mine looks really nice I have it on a pole & have pretty tie backs so it looks quite decorative, so can also get what’s called a portiere rod which lifts up with the curtain, when the door is opened, also the draught excluder really does make a difference.
