Help needed! What is your favourite white/off white?

Hi all
I need to pick a white/off white to paint our house. We just want to move in ASAP so are painting it all white then over the years we will add colour as we figure out the space.

What white would work for this?

What white should I choose?
Nothing too stark.
I don't want anything too grey.
I don't want anything too yellow.

I've bought about 10 tester pots and still can't decide.

Decorator is starting Monday so need to get the paint this weekend.

Thank you Smile

I like Dulux white chiffon
Recommend getting Dulux Trade Diamond Matt, pricey but hard wearing and wipeable

Pure brilliant white everything, walls, ceiling, woodwork. No cutting in, easy to do a quick re coat on high use areas (as always going to be a good colour match), you can easily use specialist paints on problem areas (ie around Windows that might be prone to condensation), and it's loads cheaper.

I had the same dilemma, farrow and ball all white was the solution! My decorator got it colour matched at either a crown or delux shop so a lot cheaper and it's scrubbable!!

Thanks for your suggestions. I definitely want something hard wearing and wipeable. A colour match would work. I will check out all white and white chiffon. I am going to the pure brilliant on ceilings and wood.

I bought Dulux timeless recently as I thought it was cream. I didn't use it as too white, but definitely not PBW. That would work.

Try F&B white tie. Warm in artificial light. Fresh and clean in daylight. Not grey or yellow. I know Crown colour match is cheaper but doesn't give the 'depth' that F&B does. I tried it and was disappointed and repainted

MaggieMcSplash · 07/09/2018 11:09

Has anyone tried Dulux porcelain doll or Dulux heritage Indian white. Do you think these are more grey?

Going to test White-tie too.

Another vote for pure brilliant white. I have a few rooms painted this colour and they don't look stark/clinical. The lights and natural daylight make them look subtly different from the white on the ceiling, so white on a wall never really looks white white.

We have F&B Off White in a few of our rooms, painted by the previous owners. It looks cream in the sun and pistachio in duller light. I wouldn’t have considered it but really like it and we’ll probably repaint it in a more durable (child-friendly)
finish.

F&B White Tie is mentioned above, we had that in a few rooms from the previous owners. We have repainted in Crown Trade Clean Extreme and are really pleased with it, both the paint and the colour. It’s my new favourite cream/neutral colour!

Dulux Timeless

F and B Pointing

Thanks for all your suggestions. So I think I might go for dulux timeless. I've seen it recommended on here so many times. Hope it comes out ok and not too yellow.

Little Greene Slaked Lime is LOVELY. We have Dulux timeless as well, but much as I love Dulux Trade Diamond Matt (the only paint make to survive the amount of mess and damage my 4 sons can throw at it), I find it a bit yellowy and old fashioned looking in bright rooms.
Dulux white chiffon can also read as cream in sunny rooms.

Slaked Lime on the other hand is modern and warm without even a tinge of yellow and magenta (or too much grey), I'm a convert and have repainted most of our place now. You can also get a really accurate colour match much cheaper from Johnstone's.

MaggieMcSplash · 08/09/2018 15:12

Thanks for the suggestion. Is little green company hard wearing and easy to wipe?

I've just got a tester pot of dulux alabaster white good match to the little green recommendation. Thank you

I loved cream in my old house

It's just not right in this one - White is so much better.

I've used Timeless here and found it a crisp white and softer than brilliant white

HomeHater · 08/09/2018 16:36

I prefer Jasmine white. I have used timeless in the past.

I think the light on the room makes a big difference to all these whites.

MaggieMcSplash · 08/09/2018 20:22

Which one?

I think the left one. The one on the right may look too yellow in sunlight if it's a South or west facing room.

MaggieMcSplash · 08/09/2018 22:31

The left is Wevet farrow and ball. The right is dulux alabaster white almost identical to little green slaked lime. I must photograph in day light tomorrow.

Cabernet Sauvignon

Tatapie · 08/09/2018 23:33

Lol Have had timeless and white tie before white chiffon!! F & B not worth it imo. Timeless ok but more creamy I think.
I like the one on the right and I think the pinky grey one could be too dark,

My dog is leaning against a Farrow and Ball White Tie wall in our north facing kitchen.

Love the dog. So cute and looks very good against the wall.
