Range Cooker or standard cooker?

Having rejected a high/eyelevel cooker, I am looking at cooker options.

A separate grill to the main oven is a must, but I am struggling to choose between a range (with 5 or 6 hobs, two dedicated ovens and a grill/3rd oven), or a smaller cooker with 4 hobs, one dedicated oven and a grill/oven too.

So I guess my question is, if you have bought a range cooker, how much do you use the extra hobs and oven? Is it the best purchase ever, or a bit superfluous to your everyday needs?

I mainly cook for a family of four with occasional entertaining.

Thanks!

I would never go back to a standard size cooker now I have one! It really does come into its own when entertaining!

We have a Rangemaster dual fuel range. In the next few years when we upgrade the kitchen we will not be keeping it. The oven is quite low and you have to bend double and peer into it every time you need to check how the cooking is going. We will be getting two eye level ovens and a separate hob.

I've got a rangemaster cooker (it was left by the previous owners of the house and we negotiated for it to be part of the sale as I had always wanted one) I love it and will never go back to a standard cooker unless we ever have to move and there is less space. I use all the burners and both ovens - don't know how I ever managed without it as it really comes into it's own when cooking things that need different temperatures or for entertaining/hearing party food etc.

Heating party food! My rangemaster doesn't enable me to have a conversation with a sausage roll Grin

I have a Rangemaster. I love it, use all of it except for a few of the hob rings, useful to have that many at Christmas though.

I've got a Britannia range cooker, it's completely electric and I wouldn't be without it. It's got a 6 ring hob, a standard 60cm oven and a smaller 40cm, both have grills in and the smaller oven also has a rotisserie spit. It really does come into its own at Christmas/entertaining, and great that you can have things cooking at different temperatures. There is a massive drawer on the bottom for storing pans and baking trays etc.

I didn't go for one with 4 ovens as I didn't think I'd use them as much.

I have an induction range, 110cm with 5 hobs, two good size ovens, separate grill and a storage drawer. I absolutely love it.

A couple of tips: make sure the ovens are a decent size, some of them compromise on the size so you have several small ovens. Check the size of the grill compartment if you plan to use it - a lot I looked at were too small so the grill pan would be almost touching the element (the salesman I spoke to said a lot are designed that way as most people only have it for show and don't use it Confused)

I use the second oven (as well as main oven) on at least a weekly basis, and the grill several times a week. The second oven is brilliant when you're doing a roast as you can put the meat in there to either slow cook or to cook on conventional heat and whack the temp up on the main oven for roasties etc.

The induction hob is brilliant, as responsive as gas, so much safer, easier to clean and doubles up as prep/serving area.

If I try to cook on a normal cooker now I think it is so small and cramped, I'm spoilt with mine Blush

I have a large range and think they look nice. I cook a lot but don't think I need all those rings. I rarely use more than 3. However I also use a streamer.
