Help - stupid f and B mistake

I am an idiot. One coat of borrowed light on one wall and just realise i picked up modern emulsion instead of estate emulsion. I detest shiny walls! Can I put estate emulsion straight on top? Can I get away with just one coat’s worth and use the other stuff as an undercoat? I refuse to fork out for primer as well. It is a little sitting room, so not a high traffic area and i was looking forward to lovely chalky sophistication, but the sheen % is the same as dulux vinyl matt ( like the rest of my house, but I wanted a posh room downstairs - it is an old cottage).. Any farrow and ball experts around to help me salvage my dream?

I'm not an expert but I've painted lots of rooms. I'd just use it as a base boat.

Thank you, mrs cat. F and B have just advised sanding lightly and wiping down first, then using the estate emulsion on top, so I will carry on with the modern emulsion as it looks as if it’s going to need a few coats.

Interesting, is it really that shiny?

We were advised to go with modern as it's much more durable with sticky fingers etc, but now you have me worried.

I've slapped estate emulsion on top of all sorts of walls without a problem. I think it's different when it's on top of wood or metal, though, when you need to sand to create adhesion.

I'm not sure modern is that shiny-I suppose it's mid sheen? I prefer estate, though, for the look. By far.

The first coat of estate emulsion is on and it looks a lot nicer to my eye. Maybe I will think differently when it’s got a few scuff marks on it. The sheen looked slightly more shiny that dulux vinyl matt to me - somewhere between that and a kitchen and bathroom paint. I suppose Whether you notice it depends on the light in the room and how smooth your walls are. Mine are rustic and nobbly.
