Valspar paint?

Hi all. I am about to paint a room that, if all continues to go well, will be a nursery in a few months' time. Until then, it's a guest room and laundry room. I'd like to get it painted ahead of time and have found a couple of colours I like in the Valspar range. However, I've found bits and pieces online about it giving off rotten fumes... Has anyone used Valspar paint recently and can tell me if that's been resolved and if the paint itself is any good? I usually use Dulux and can't afford things like F&B.
TIA.

Its been resolved. That was a dodgy batch.
We’ve painted 2 rooms with it in the last 5 months and both been fine!

I've recently painted a room with valspar, it was absolutely fine, no fumes at all. My only issue with the paint was that the 'matt' paint has a bit of a sheen to it!

Thanks - I'm glad it seems that was just a dodgy batch. I'd be using a light colour over a light colour (grey over beige) so I wonder if that would cover ok?

Recently used Valspar, bought it then found the reviews online with concerns you have mentioned and crapped myself.
It has been great, we bought the trade formula I. matt, covers well and the 2 year olds grubby handprints wipe off easily. Coverage was fine but it was a pale colour painted on to (prepped) newly plastered walls.
I'd definitely use again. Originally I planned to colour match an F&B but found one in their stock colours that was just what I wanted

I bought valspar when moved to white wash the place as was all horrible colours (there was a deal on) and the paint was so thin and came off the wall a bit too easy!

The fumes was a dodgy batch, only affected the A bases and how they even got mixed up I have no idea because it hit you as soon as you opened the can.

It's a good paint but you have to go with either the V700 or the Trade. The cheaper options are really not worth the money. They brought them in to compete with own brand paints on a budget and they really don't cut the mustard.

The V700 is lovely, the matt IS matt but does have a bit of a smoothness to it, like kitchen paint sometimes does. It's matt but not chalky matt. It does cover very well, even dark colours should be covered in 2 coats. The silk is very silky. I'd go as far as to say it's almost gloss in finish. B&Q should have a demo board up with the different finishes so you can see them.

Only think I'd warn you about is that it has a tacking off period and you can't keep going back over bits to touch up. Once it starts to tack off, if you touch it, you will peel it off. You have to either get it perfect when its still properly wet or leave it and get it on the next coat.

Once it's dry, let it cure for 2 weeks and then you can scrub it clean if you need to. I adore it and would never go back now but then I am biased because I get my discount. Grin

We get far less back on quality grounds than we ever used to with other brands we mixed though, in my personal experience. You get the odd can that you open and think WTF? of course you do but overall I think it's pretty good.

I've painted a few rooms using it and they're fine.
