Blinds for kitchen and bathroom- what looks best?

I live in a 60's style house, white and square with really big windows.

I need to get blinds for both kitchen and bathroom. I've been looking through loads of ideas but can't seem to get any inspiration at all.

I love the look of Victorian houses with big wide-slatted wooden blinds, but I'm kind of stuck when it comes to my kind of house.

I know I could get roller blinds with a print of my choice, but I find that look a bit boring for some reason.

Any ideas of what might look good in a modern-ish kitchen and bathroom?

I'm not too worried about price at the moment, but will try to make it cheaper once I've decided what I want.

We’ve gone for printed roller blinds (from Blinds2go, highly recommend them) and they are great. Neat when up (so don’t take any light from the window) and a subtle geometric print when down. In a kitchen I think it’s important to keep it simple, you don’t want things which will attract dust or grease. Probably not what you wanted to hear but that’s my advice!

Oh and we had wooden slatted blinds in our bedroom at our old house, they were always fiendishly dusty

I have just plain coloured roller blinds in my kitchen. I didn’t want anything too fussy. Here are some pics.

What about roman blinds, so you've got more fabric and therefore a little more drama than plain roller blinds, but without the dusting slats would require? They will be a little deeper at the top than roller blinds but big Sixties windows should be able to take them well.

Plain(ish) roller blinds in the kitchen and bathroom, both room are south facing so they have been well used this week keeping the heat out.

In one side of our kitchen I have wide grey wooden blinds from Dunelm and then the other side Roman blinds from Blinds2Go. I'm a bit fan of roman blinds! I personally don't like roller blinds. I find them boring.

Thanks for all your advice- going to start researching with more purpose now.

The wide grey slats from Dunelm sound nice. I hadn't thought about Roman blinds so will look into that a bit.

No one mentioned Hilary's blinds, in getting them for one room - but it is pricey, it sounds like there will be better options out there.

We have white pleated blinds in both our bathrooms and I think they look lovely and diffuse the light in a really nice way. I much prefer them to roller blinds. These from Blinds 2 Go are great www.blinds-2go.co.uk/pleated_blinds.htm

I like aluminium venetian blinds which is what we had in our brand new sixties home, mind you they are a bit of a bugger to keep clean as my mother discovered, but if you are only having them in the kitchen & bathroom the cleaning is manageable & they are so practical as any grease/dirt can be washed off. Plus they come in loads of colours.
