Hello, all rooms in house are painted in farrow and ball colours (admittedly copies but I'm happy with them) and we're currently having work done on the kitchen. We are re painting the units (yet to decide on colour til the floor is finished but likely purbeck stone or cornforth white) wall colour TBC too once the units are done. My question is about my idea for the 6 kitchen chairs and large table. They are currently painted in pointing but will be re done. I'm planning to paint each chair a different colour (kind of inspired by colours in the rest of the house, although we have no pink tones yet but bathroom due to be done in peignoir) anyway, thinking of painting the 6 chair a in the following: peignoir, pale powder, skimming stone or elephants breath, drop cloth, cinder rose and dix blue (want a duck egg blue so suggestions appreciated. I've seen thus look achieved with brighter colours and think it could look good done in these kinds of shades. What do you think? Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi, I have done similar with my kitchen chairs, I have painted them sage green, pale pink, baby blue & grey these colours are also picked up in the blinds/curtains the walls are pale blue, also have some picture frames/lamps in these colours.
I think what you suggested will look really good & tone well together.

Ah thanks for replying. Yes, my instinct is that they'll look really good. There are 6 chairs and due to the size of the paint tins (And cost) I've decided to have 2 painted in each colour (So 3 colours) which are: peignoir (a grey pink) pale powder (a kind of eau de nil) and drop cloth (a warm deepish greige) table is going to be painted purbeck stone and I think the units may well be cornforth white.

@Bluesheep8 sounds fab, I’m going to try a tester of drop cloth for my front room.
I bought small tins of rustoleum paint/painters touch only a couple of pounds each & enough to do a chair or small table they come in satin & gloss finishes, could be worth a thought.

Thanks, will have a look at those. Will also post a pic when they're done. Drop cloth sounds lovely for your front room by the way, I can imagine it's a really cosy colour.

@Bluesheep8 yes do, always like to see a project completed.
Am going to get a couple of samples later this week, as would like to do my front room, kitchen & cabinets & possibly Hall, but I want the colours to flow, but at the same time to be a colour not wishy washy iykwim.

Pale powder is very pale, if you were wanting a duck egg blue before. Maybe look at green blue?

Sounds lovely. My only concern is that you might be mixing up colour intensities there I.e. cinder rose and fix blue are a lot stronger than the others.

And a tip: Annie Sloan water based Matt varnish. Couple of coats on top makes it much more hard wearing. It does give a slight sheen though. Rustoleum do a similar though I found it ran out quickly - my Annie Sloan tin seems to last for ever, it has got me through multiple projects and there's still loads left.
