What's the next trend?

I have today bought myself a geometric copper candle lantern which was reduced in Sainsbury's so I realise that as I'm just getting into this trend it is on the way out! Must try harder! What is the next home decor trend that I can get in on from the start? My home is beige central so I need some inspiration!

When dd1 was a baby I used to dress her in pink and green a lot - got accused of 'dressing her like a boy'!

Your dd's room sounds gorgeous. I have an old gunmetal bed and dark wood furniture to stop it getting too pretty!

dontcallmelen · 19/06/2018 17:12

Agree dark wood furniture looks fab with green, probably because you find it in nature.

I did the shabby chic a bit too much about 6-8 years ago Blush

Now Im honestly trying to go minimalist Confused

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 19/06/2018 19:08

Oh god yes, shabby chic! I'm finally getting rid of the last of that stuff. And replacing it with soon-to-be-out-scandi-stuff Wink

Weirdly some of the things that so far has stood the test of time for us has been Ikea furniture. Years ago we bought wardrobes, chests of drawers and bookcases in the white Hemnes range. It's survived 4 house moves, countless renovations in the houses, and I still like it. It's pretty timeless.

Blue kitchens - the new colour at loads of companies, which annoys be no end as I chose blue to go with my fave prints in my kitchen and it seemed so unusual.
Pom-poms and copper are over.
Green bathrooms and Victorian tiles still a thing.

Shame about all that nice old hardwood furniture that got covered in chalk paint...

I'm backing brown. I love it dark and drab as a neutral, or warm and tobacco-y as an accent. I think I was born in the wrong decade.

TheClitterati · 19/06/2018 23:08

I believe hexagons have replaced chevrons, tile-wise.

I did my lounge pink and green 6 years ago, with natural wood and lots of throws. Now needs redoing, but no idea what I want just yet. Bedroom has just been redecorated with v pale grey walls and damson accents (lots of velvet) and looks lush

BigFatBloomers · 19/06/2018 23:54

Definitely macrame.
I’d also say jumbo cord sofas will soon be the in thing, taking over from velvet.

donajimena · 20/06/2018 00:03

I hate trends. I have 10 clients on my books for cleaning services and every house is grey!

fortunatepiggy1 · 02/07/2018 19:09

Thanks all

I'm going to skip the green and fringe trend I think but will try and be a bit less safe and boring!

I thoroughly dislike grey. I have not felt the slightest urge to paint anything or buy anything grey.
I stayed at someone's house a couple of years and it was all magnolia apart from the peach bathroom, and there was a lot of beige. Very eighties. I never want to see magnolia again.

Is there a good Pinterest or blog fashionable homeowners would recommend? I definitely need some inspiration

fortunatepiggy1 · 12/08/2018 18:55

Anyone?

I think:

dark green (only for the brave)
pastels
yellow (warm sunny yellow not mustard) - hope so anyway!
1930s style (even more)
Pale/bleached wood

White, white and more white...for me anyway.
