A nice shade of pink.

I'm trying to find a shade of pink for the living room that isn't TOO PINK. more of a dusky grey/pink. I feel like I'm lost in a sea of pinks.

Has anyone got any suggestions or ones to avoid?

I love Pantone Champagne Pink, and could get it mixed, but just hoping someone has put something similar on a wall and has feedback. I've not had much luck with other colours once they're on the wall so erring on the side of caution with this one. Thank you!

A nice shade of pink.

F&B calamine?

Crissy83 · 11/06/2018 18:16

I love pebble shore from the b&q 'colours' range. Combined it with a feature wall in light rain and would definitely describe as a 'grey' pink.

StruggsToFunc · 11/06/2018 22:35

YY F&B Calamine.

WhereIsBlueRabbit · 12/06/2018 06:35

F & B Peignoir maybe?

Thisisanoutrage · 12/06/2018 06:45

Dulux just walnut

Ketzele · 12/06/2018 10:56

It really depends on the light, but I would look at F&B Peignoir and Calamine, Little Greene Peach Blossom Light, Mylands Pale Lilac and Soho House, Paint & Paper Library Plaster (comes in five intensities) or Marble (ditto) or Lady Char's Lilac.

I have f and b calamine in my dressing room and it's a lovely dusky pink.

poddige · 12/06/2018 21:13

Thank you!

I've gone for F&B Calamine, done a big patch and already love it.

It's a bit tragic, isn't it? I live in a cluttered, ugly house with bits falling off it - which I can't afford to fix - so I have become this obsessive posh-painter, fannying around dabbing overpriced pigment over the ruins. My kids call me the Paint Witch. I'm all excited right now because tomorrow I am going to paint a wall in Mylands Shoreditch, a lovely dark grey green. All my furniture is ebay or skips; if it isn't nice dark wood, and doesn't move fast enough, it gets painted.

But I'm so pleased you went for Calamine - such a great colour.

poddige · 13/06/2018 22:51

@Ketzele the paint witch is just brilliant!

I will keep popping back to this thread to ask you for worldly paint advice in the future.

The calamine currently looking dreamy.

Have also been looking for a light pink for my daughter’s room - tried out F&B Calamine after reading this and I also think it’s perfect - getting it painted in the next couple of weeks. F&B should pay you commission @Ketzele!!

Also by pure coincidence I am using F&B Peignoir and Dulux’s Just Walnut in other parts of my house over the next fortnight. Must be very popular shades! Grin

Just done DTs bedrooms. One calamine and one Peignoir (dulux matched to farrow and ball).

The Peignoir is probably my favourite. It's a really chalky pink and unusual. Lovely.

Calamine also lovely but less grey tone. It seems to have a dose of blue in there.

I paired both with farrow and ball wevet for a nice fresh feel

Snowglobes · 22/10/2018 16:38

@sippingsipsmith any chance you’d mind posting a photo of your peignoir room please? (Loving your username too)

SippingSipsmith · 22/10/2018 17:03

No problem. Here you go x

A nice shade of pink.

@Ketzele If it's not too much trouble, could you recommend any warm pinks for my daughter's north facing bedroom? Dusky/dusty but not too dark. Thanks

imip · 22/10/2018 18:41

We used satin bow by Dulux. I’d describe it as a vintage pink. You can download a visualiser app on your phone and ‘psint’ Your space. It’s a good app to have fun with.

imip · 22/10/2018 18:42

Sorry, Dulux visualiser.

Standstilling · 23/10/2018 14:03

Thanks imip I will take a look.

Ketzele · 25/10/2018 22:08

Standstilling, I haven't been on MN for a while but couldn't resist your siren call Grin

After much research (tester pots, by the dozen) I have concluded that pink is the hardest colour to get right. It just seems more sensitive to light changes, and I really struggled to find the right pinks for my home. In the end I went for Mylands Soho House in my bedroom, but it's probably too dark for your daughter. I also have a Sulking Room Pink front door - but it might be too brown - and Mylands Pale Lilac for the mural on my bedroom ceiling. (Yes, I have run out of walls to paint so am now going all Charleston on the ceilings!)

So, with caveats that it all depends on the light, and your daughter's taste, I'd take a look at F&B Calamine or Nancy's Blushes or Middleton Pink; Little Greene Blush or Light Peachblossom; Paint and Paper Library Temple (this comes in four strengths).

Ladi85 · 26/10/2018 15:01

F&b calamine x

Snowglobes · 30/10/2018 11:43

Thank you @SippingSipsmith it’s such an interesting colour - I’m definitely going for it. Are you having a grey carpet? I’m trying to find one that’s a skimming stone sort of colour, I think!
