Curtains/shutters for large arched window - pics included

We’ve recently bought a conversion property that has very large arched windows together with vaulted ceilings in two bedrooms. I’m really struggling with how to cover them - obviously I can’t leave them bare much as I’d like to. I want to try and keep as much light in the rooms during the day as we can, but need them dark at night. Has anyone any ideas or is this an impossible ask? I’d be very grateful for any ideas. Just to add to the problem, the full length one is also a door that leads to an outdoor courtyard

For door, Italian strung curtains are the usual solution, but they are very traditional

I’d like something more contemporary really - I quite like colonial shutters but am afraid they’d obscure the windows too much and cut the light. The other problem is that the valued ceilings don’t allow room for a rail.

For the window, a roman blind with extra section at the top, shaped to fit arch.

Both these solutions will need a competent curtain maker

You can make door length roman blinds but they need a hefty track

Thank you, I think I need to get an expert curtainmaker out to have a look. It’s a shame to block too much of the windows as they are a really nice feature, so Roman blinds may well be the way to go.

A Roman blind solution will be fixed around the arch bit and only the straight section will raise and drop. At least you will see the shape but they may block the light a little.

I would not mount a wide blind across the top of the arch - it will look really odd.

A shutter will let you see the shape but f it's for sleeping may not block all the light you need it to.

Thank you. I've spoken to some local curtain/blind makers but none of them will touch it as the windows are too big

I've made an appointment with Hillarys and even they wouldn't agree to come out until I sent some photos - apparently they have specialist consultants and are sending one of them round.
