What window coverings for impossible bay?

We've been in our new house for a few months. The living room has a big bay window and we are struggling to decide what to do with it. The previous owners had some awful flesh coloured metal blinds which we are desperate to replace!

However the windows fill the whole bay so if we have curtains or shutters there is no wall for them to hang against- they'd have to hang over the window which will block light and not look good.

We'd also like something that would stop people looking in- shutters seem the best idea but there's no where for them to hold back if we ever want to open them fully...
Hive mind- any suggestions?

Oops, I lied op Blush, I have got a bit of wall above the window. It did have curtains and a pelmet as well as blinds but we removed them, I just thought they were attached to the ceiling in this bay.

I can’t decide what to do either it I definitely wouldn’t cover up the stained glass with a blind if it was in my house.

What a beautiful window. I wouldn't go for roman blinds or anything that would hide the stained glass. Shutters on the lower half would look amazing but they do block the light and with your hedge I don't think privacy would be an issue? Bottom up blinds would be great if you just want some covering for the evening. I have shutters in our bay and I love them, but our window was overlooked so they give the privacy we need.

The thing is we're in London so sadly the hedge will have to go because we need somewhere to park the car...
I love the stained glass- it's 100+ years old though and is costing us a fortune to refurbish, plus it means we can't replace the windows and need the whole thing refurbed. The whole front of the house has them so it's a lot of cash 😟😟
We're thinking luxaflex or roman or shutters that only cover the plain glass bit of the window. Agggh.

We're off to luxaflax showroom next weekend...

If the hedge is going, I would say shutters on the lower part of the window, no question. They will look incredible with the stained glass.
