Do your shutters keep the room warm?

I love the look of plantation shutters. However, the prices are £££ and it's a big investment. If you live in a freezing cold Victorian house, has installing shutters made any difference to the room temperature when closed? Also, would you buy them again?
Do they block out much light? I understand that the slat size makes a difference but I'm not a great fan of the huge slats, was thinking of a medium one...it's a four window curved bay to complicate matters! Photos of your lovely shutters most welcome, particularly if you have very high ceilings.

I love my shutters, but they are much colder than curtains - sorry op!

I have original shutters in our drafty Victorian. When I open them on a winter morning I feel the blast of cold coming from our single glazed windows. So, they do their job. I’m not a huge fan of curtains so shutters is the only thing I use. It does not keep out the light completely. Some gets through the joints of the shutters but I prefer that to pitch dark anyway.

I have original shutters in my Georgian home, and they really help to keep the warmth in. However, they aren't slatted, they are solid and I often wonder how well the slatted ones can be at keeping warmth in.

Interesting responses...I think I was hoping that somebody would say the raised the room temperature by 25% so I can justify the price!!!
I'm no fan of curtains and the roller blinds I have at the moment are useless.
I do wish I had original shutters but the panelling around the windows is the fixed type sadly.
