How on earth do I dress this window?

It's got windows of different heights and French doors that open onto the garden. The pic is a bit dark but opposite is a house which looks directly onto the garden. We are planning on planting some trees to block their view but that's going to take some time - likely a few years for them to grow to the right heights. It will be the breakfast area of the kitchen so there will be lots of people in pjs in there. Otherwise I would leave it without any curtains. Suggestions?

And yes spend it on the trees

Eucalyptus grows v fast and looks nice. It is v handy for greenery at Christmas too.

Just a thought but - can you see into their windows when you are in your breakfast room? If not, they probably can't see into your house either. I wouldn't bother with anything at the windows while the trees are growing, but then I generally don't do anything interesting enough for anyone to want to watchSmile

I agree with a pp, I bet the other house is actually a lot further away than you think so I would be tempted not to have anything at all tbh

I wouldn't do anything either! Unless it's freezing in winter?
Re trees- bamboo and eucalyptus can both be right nuisances, so do choose your verity with care or you will accidentally start a forest.

I'd leave it. People generally don't stand at their upstairs windows staring in to other people's kitchens.

It's lovely as is and adding curtains or blinds would detract from it somehow.

Go for trees.

I’ve got massive pots on our patio and grow bamboo successfully as a semi screen. Then in the house, I’d leave the windows, at least for now.

How about buying a screen?

I like the metal one from Amazon, that still lets light through and the fabric one with bird pattern is pretty too.

I wouldn't want to grow anything that would block MY view of that lovely expanse of wall because I would be itching to grow things up it!

I think I would go for some sort of curtain because that is a huge amount of glass and unless it is very high tech you will be losing heat by the bucket load during the winter, and that area of the room will be cold and uninviting. as a pp said, go to the end of the garden and see how much you can see in. It would be more with lights on in the winter, but in spring and summer I think it would be negligible. I might go for curtains in winter months only, a faff but those windows are lovely and let in so much light.

Pull up blinds. Luxaflex do them.
You can pull them up from the windowsill as far as you like.
It always amazes me that they are not more popular.
Privacy and light.
