Help. So hopefully buying a lively new build. Dream home really. Most windows I will get Roman blinds for, as all the windows in the bedrooms have window seats so curtains won’t work. Anyway the I my window I have a problem with us the ground floor front room. It’s going to be the “family room/playroom” ie is likely to be a disaster zone half the time if I am being honest. So it is also the room that is right beside the neighbours front door so I need some “privacy/screen” on it so they don’t constabtly seen the disaster zone Grin (yes I could tidy it every day but it’s a large house, we both work full time so I am being honest I won’t Blush and kiddies are only v small)

All I can think is Venetian blinds of some description but so t want them in the other windows as want Roman for those. So will it look totally ridiculous to have them in only one? Any other ideas?

What about a bush or tree in their line of sight?

Have a look at ‘day and night’ blinds. We’ve got them in a room where I don’t want people who walk past close to the window noseying in and they work well- light comes through but you can control the amount of vision through them. You’d probably need to see one in real life to see how they work but google will help a bit....?

I'd try planting outside in the first instance. Not only would it screen you, but would give you a nice outlook over greenery as opposed to the neighbour's front pay/door.

In terms of windows treatments, I don't think you need to do the same in every window and it will ok if you go for a 'day and night' blind, a Venetian or shutters. The only thing that never looks good in any residential property are vertical office blinds.

Thank you all. Planting not an option as it’s cobblelock outside that window. Will look at day/night blinds thank you!

Venetian blinds are really good at throwing the light and keeping the privacy of your house. If it is going to be a danger zone with the kids like my playroom is, check out the faux-wood blinds; they are pretty indestructible lol. I have the day and night blinds from blinds superstore in my house and they may look better with romans as both are fabrics, the day and night is a stripe though so may look odd against romans. Most romans are white on the back as they have lining and when down they will most look like a standard roller.

I am doing half shutters with a roman blind in a few overlooked windows, like this. I don't really like Venetians, considered them though because they are half the price of shutters!

Window film is cheap but I can't get over it being a bit office like.

Would you consider something like this? We've got a downstairs loo that faces the street/driveway and put up frosting film. Still plenty of light and no nosing!
