Any F&B paint nerds around tonight?

Because I need your help. I want to paint my bedroom dusky pink before it drifts back out of fashion, and I'm having trouble deciding on the right one. Was looking at stronger pinks (F&B Cinder Rose and Little Greene Peachblossom Light) but though generally I like a strong colour, I don't want a dark bedroom.

At the moment it's Blackened, which looks very pale blue grey. It's lovely, but quite cold. The room is north east facing, quite low ceiling, definitely the dark cool side of the house. Furniture is an unusual art decoish pewter bed, dark wood drawers, a couple of big trunks.

So here's the current choice: F&B Peignoir or F&B Calamine? I really like both. Peignoir appeals because it's more grey - but Calamine gives a very pretty vintage look. I've looked at Middleton Pink - too sugary - and Pink Ground - too peachy.

Any advice? Or am I missing an even fabber dusky pink (emphasis on the dusky, I don't want a really pinky pink)?

Personally I love peignoir. I think if it was teamed with greys and silvers it would look more grey but with copper and/or blush colours it would look more pinky and It's such a lovely "dirty" pink...

I also love Peignoir, I think I'm going to paint our bathroom walls above the panelling (which is French Grey) with it. The bathroom is north east facing and the tester patches I've painted look a sort of mauve/grey colour.

Our bath is Cinder Rose and it is a much bolder, definite pink.

We had this dilemma for our living room and went with calamine as we wanted it to be warmer. In our room peignoir looked lavender/grey. Both are lovely though!

Ketzele · 03/03/2018 13:15

Thank you both. I suspect I will still love Peignoir in 3 years; I might go off Calamine. I do have a bookshelf I painted in Peignoir and it makes me happy every time I look at it. So maybe that's the one.

Bluesheep, good point about accessories. I guess I could go with dusky pink bedding etc in there, then when I move on from pink Peignoir would more easily adapt to other colours (bet it would look great with dark green).

I have rusling by little greene. It's amazing, changes colour according to the light and is designed for north facing rooms as the darker it is the pinker it looks.

SwedishEdith · 03/03/2018 13:24

I went through all of these pinks (plus more) recently. Peignoir seemed to beigey for me, definitely not pink. Went for Calamine in the end and it's lovely. Warm, not too sweet, can go with a range of other colours.

SwedishEdith · 03/03/2018 13:27

*too

Bluesheep8 · 03/03/2018 16:04

Yes I bet it would go with LOADS of other colours thinking about it...dark green would be lovely, as would navy...hadn't thought of that

harrietm87 · 03/03/2018 17:39

@Bluesheep8 yes - our calamine living room looks amazing with our navy sofa and grey sofa, rosewood shelves, black tv stand...it's surprisingly versatile! I really love it.

Ketzele · 03/03/2018 19:31

Ooh rusling you say... [rushes off to Little Greene website]

Peignoir is lovely but it really isn’t pink at all.

NannyOggsKnickers · 04/03/2018 21:14

Having used both brands but not those colours, i’d urge you to go for Little Greene. F&B is shite. Paint is thin and take a lot of coats= more of the expensive paint.

Little Greene is much better quality and is made in the UK too.

WeAreGerbil · 04/03/2018 21:17

I rejected F&B (and many other colours) and went with Sanderson Dusky Rose.

EachandEveryone · 04/03/2018 21:19

I’ve got calamine on my bedroom wall that’s in with the lamp on

Have you seen this Cate St Hill blog post about her bedroom in Peignoir?

I love it - going to copy many details!

WeAreGerbil · 04/03/2018 21:21

And I've also used a v pale Dulux mix your own pink that wasn't sugary pink but I can't remember what it was called before that when I couldn't find the right dusty pink.

SwedishEdith · 04/03/2018 21:27

We got our Calamine mixed by Valspar. Their tester pots are very generous.

This is a bedroom we painted in Hicks & Weatherburn's paint # 65. Don't think it had a name yet.

You're all lovely but you're making me more confused! I guess it's time for huge tester patches on the walls.

Still, who would think there would be so many F&B pink nerds on MN?

Bit of a zombie thread but I have just painted LG Rusling onto a4 paper. It’s very pretty and subtle. My carpet in the north facing hall is a weird pinky brown so I have to stay away from brown muddy colours. The sofa in my north facing living room is a warm mid brown. Rusling looks good so far. Mid clay a little bit heavy
