If you have pans that have been going strong for years, which brand are they? I want to invest in a decent steamer pan, a couple of saucepans and a frying pan with a lid. I have a gas hob. Also has anyone bought some nice laundry room stuff, ie ironing board cover, matching peg bag,etc online recently? I saw some lovely things (sage green stripes and polka dots etc) at the Country Living magazine marquee at Hampton Court flower show last year but can't find the company on the internet.

I have a few.

My saucepan set (which includes a steamer insert) is Stellar. I have had them for at least 15 years, they are used nearly every day and just get chucked in the dishwasher, no special care, and they still look practically new. I bought them on a whim as they were on sale, and I am so pleased I did, I absolutely LOVE them.

I also have a collection of Le Crueset casserole dishes, which get used for normal cooking on the hob quite a lot too. They are fantastic, I wouldn't be without them.

And for frying pans, I like Meyer Circulon or Meyer Analon, as I prefer frying pans to be non-stick (my saucepans and Le Cruesets are not). They last well for non-stick pans, but the surface will always degrade eventually. Meyer ones seem to be good for up to about 5 years of heavy use, as long as you don't use metal implements. If you handwashed them they would probably last longer but I am too lazy

I have had Stellar stainless steel pans for 27 years. Still as good a new. Agree Le Creuset good too but not their frying pans. Buy a good nonstick frying pan - TK Maxx are good .

That's great, thank you. Meyer it is then! Hopefully someone will be along about the laundry room stuff. My utility room is 'visible' from the kitchen, and I want to get the ironing board out of the spare bedroom and in there looking decent.

I have circulon pans. I love them. Also Le creuset casserole dishes vut they are very heavy. My stock pots are Fissler - love those too.

We have a set of Stellar pans which have lasted nearly 20 years and still going strong! For frying pans I like non stick Tefal type and just replace every so often.

I have le creuset pans and casserole dishes, the oldest of which is around 32 years old and still going strong. Well worth the investment! I have a great steamer pan stacking thingy which is Hackman make, was a wedding present and so is now nearly 25 years old. Still looks new after I've put a Brillo pad on it, They've done several electric, gas and halogen hobs and been great on all of them.

Circulon pans are very well designed and balanced, as well as durable. Try Dunelm Mills- a friend got some from there at half price.

Re the fabrics,I like some of the Sophie Allport range. Some are a bit twee, but others I really like.

Have fun choosing!

I bought a big set from Jean Patrique over twenty years ago and they are as good as new apart from one lid which I dropped and broke the handle off.

Sorted with a beautiful Italian pasta pot steamer and stainless steel Stellar pans all half price in my local hardware store. Thank you for you advice!
