Hi, not long moved into new home and one of the bedroom's has lining paper on walls which has been painted. I imagine it has been lined as the walls underneath are perhaps not in great condition, just guessing... I have posted a photo... if I strip the the paper off do you think I'm going to open a can of worms?

Totally not an expert, but if you strip it you'll have to put something new up before painting it. Is it worth it? Could you try painting a test pot platoons that area to see how bad it looks?

I say that as someone who has just stripped a whole house of wallpaper and am now waiting for the lining paper to go up before painting. The walls are in awful condition but I can't afford a plasterer.

We stripped ours (Victorian house) then painted without needing to re-paper. People bombarded us with tales of doom and gloom about blown plaster but it was fine with a bit of filling and sanding.
