Can anyone help me find a cabin bed with good drawers for a decent price?

I'm looking for a cabin bed (the mid sleepers not the high one) but it must have good deep drawers. It can have cupboards etc on the ends of it as it is fitting in a small room that you can only access the main side? Ideally want unpainted and £250 max?! I can't find a decent one with good drawers! It would be my ds's only place for his clothes ..

Oh and to add it has to have the ladder flat to the bed not pulled out to a slope due to the small room!

thuka comes to my mind.
very sturdy.
modular so you can change to single bed or high sleeper or bunk if needed.

their full sets are pricey though.

www.noaandnani.co.uk/

This website has lots of options and reasonably priced.

That Noa and Nani website is lovely but can't find one that fits the bill 😨

Oh God it's a total nightmare. We searched high and low and in the end DH built one. He's a carpenter but it was soooo much cheaper than buying something. Could. You approach a local chippie for a quote?

llmb · 18/09/2017 19:20

I hadn't thought of that... are you sure it would be cheaper?? Do you know roughly what yours would of cost had your dh been paying someone to do it?

DD has a cabin bed that is basically an IKEA bed base on top of some trofast units - no ladder at all but uses "stepped" trofast unit as stairs. Was really easy to build.

llmb · 18/09/2017 19:26

Is it safe its?! That doesn't sound very sturdy? How does it not move about? Ds is a sleep fidget so would worry me a little?

Have you checked eBay? We are just about to put my daughter's on there so I have been looking at them recently .

'Room to Grow' website have some good ones that may suit. Some beds tend to be quite long -we have the same problem and are currently looking - so check your dimensions carefully.

PickAChew · 18/09/2017 19:33

You'd probably get more storage space going for an actual bed with built in drawers. The chests of drawers that come with mid sleepers etc are tiny.

dorset pine is also good, very basic though.
they are also able to cater for weird nooks.

MyUserNameIsHistory · 18/09/2017 19:41

Any here fit the bill? www.mrsflatpack.co.uk/

llmb · 18/09/2017 20:26

Trouble with eBay is im a LP and would and to pay to hire a cam to collect it all then get it back in the house and upstairs by myself...

Yes was thinking about the beds with drawers but ds is desperate for a cabin bed and his sleep is really bad so trying to use it as an incentive!

Have looked at mrs flat pack... will look at Dorset pine

Dorset only deliver locally and I'm not local. Annoying!

I've bought the Thuka mid sleeper and it's nice quality in the whitewash. Seen this one in Argos for £280 which might fit the bill? http://www.argos.co.uk/product/7005912

BellaGoth · 18/09/2017 21:28

DH says the wood cost about £70 and it took him roughly a day. His day rate is £150, so £220 for a made to measure cabin bed. We had a little staircase rather than a ladder which was very fiddly and took a lot of wood, which it doesn't sound like you want so that would reduce the cost.

He also put a bookcase over it to fill a gap. We've not bought the storage to go under it, but the ikea kallax unit fits nicely in.

I'll try and remember to take some pictures tomorrow so you can get an idea of what we got for the money.

N0tfinished · 18/09/2017 22:14

God, I was just kicking & cursing my DS' one today. It was a big mistake, and we're stuck with it for a while.

We bought ours 2nd hand so not too expensive, but I'd have to get a new bed to replace it - which isn't in the budget just now.

Maybe he was too old at 11 when we got it, but he hated it from day 1. It is a pain to climb in & out of, and he says it's creaky. TBH we got it right in the middle of that killer clown hoo-ha last year, so I think he's linked that in his head IYKWIM.

They're a bloody pain when it's time to change the sheets...
