Hello, we are having a new kitchen put in and would like to buy a water softener as we live in a very hard water area. I have found the water softener I want however my question is about taps. I know that I should have a separate tap for those who don't wish to drink softened water however do people normally have a triflow tap or a tap separate to their main kitchen tap? I would prefer just one but struggling to find any nice once at a reasonable price. Can anyone recommend any? thanks

We have a water softener but the water to the kitchen sink is not softened. Instead we have a brita tap.

thank you. I guess we could do that and it would solve the tap issue. We use a water filter now so would have to continue to do so as the un-softened water will still taste odd. Maybe the triflow taps I am thinkout about are only for those who have filtered water. My in-laws have one and that is what they use it for. Maybe people just have separate taps for the non water softened water? anyone else?

We have a triflow tap but don't use a filter on it for the dining water, I don't think it is necessary. It makes the tap cheaper not buying the filter.

I wouldn't not have softened water to the sink, I use it for everything except drinking, keeps the sink limescale free!

thank you, can anyone recommend any triflow taps?

Our softener is installed after the kitchen cold tap, so all the water in the house, including the kitchen hot tap, is softened, but the cold tap is straight mains water. No problems with limescale in the kitchen - just wipe down using hot water.

We used to use a Brita filter for drinking water, but got out of the habit. TBH what I usually do to improve the taste of the tap water is simply to fill a jug and leave it to stand. The chlorine, I think, evaporates and the water smells and tastes nicer.

ooh that's a good idea. I am not very knowledgeable regarding anything plumbing. So I can have the kitchen tap hot water softened and the cold water hard. good plan. So I will just need a normal tap and not a triflow one. thank you.
