Crap - New carpet clashes with wall colour

We just had a carpet laid in our new loft conversion and it totally clashes with the wall colour [sad}.

We had a small carpet sample of the "charcoal" carpet and it looked ok, but once down it is much more brown that expected, or the name suggested.

What can I do? We cannot afford a new carpet or to repaint.

Please tell me it will look better once the furniture is in?

Erm, it looks fine Confused

That does not look like a charcoal carpet. Are you sure they have delivered the correct carpet?

DownUdderer · 25/07/2017 12:15

It's looks beige-ish sort of brown. Brown and turquoise very much go. Doesn't look clashy in the photo

blueskyinmarch · 25/07/2017 12:16

It actually looks fine in the photo. The walls look dark navy.

Thecatsmother17 · 25/07/2017 12:25

The walls are dark blue - not quite as dark as navy.

The carpet was called Charcoal and the sample looked slightly more on the grey side. I compared the sample with this and it's the same. It obviously just shows up much more brown when laid.

It looks nice! Smile

NoSquirrels · 25/07/2017 12:27

Crap name for that carpet - charcoal it is not!

BUT - looks lovely Smile So don't worry about it. You can always repainted when you have the money if it still bothers you.

Thanks everyone. I'm probably just panicking as it is NOT at all what I expected.

The paint colour on the wall is not what I expected either. It's supposed to look like this but is much more navy in reality.

What sort of furniture do you plan to put in the room?

Thecatsmother17 · 25/07/2017 12:48

Furniture is all white.

Hi, I agree with other posters that it looks good, however it is definitely not charcoal..imo I think it looks far nicer with that wall colour than true charcoal, or what I picture when imagining the colour charcoal would...

Joinourclub · 25/07/2017 17:30

I think it looks great!

Tatlerer · 25/07/2017 20:48

TheCatsMother what shade of blue is that? And what kind of carpet? Shamelessly stealing all recommendations at the moment!

Thecatsmother17 · 25/07/2017 21:55

The paint is Crown Pier View.

No idea what kind of carpet it is though sorry!

Thanks!

PumpkinSpiceEverything · 26/07/2017 10:35

I think it looks fine! Really like the wall colour. The carpet colour does go well with it. Hope you like it once the furniture is in!

PeachPearPotato · 27/07/2017 23:57

I think it looks great, especially if you can find bedding to tie in - maybe the colour of sofa in pic

BlueAutumnSkies · 28/07/2017 14:44

I think it looks lovely! And you have both warm and cool tones that work well together so you get a nice cozy but fresh feel.

DelphiniumBlue · 28/07/2017 14:51

It looks fine, but if you wanted to change the paint, B&Q own brand paint is £9.00 for a big tub, would be enough for 2 coats in a normal size room.

TwoKidsAndCounting · 31/07/2017 19:45

The problem is that warm and cool tones don't actually work together whicv is what you have. Both colours are lovely they just don't blend well which is a real shame, also the carpet looks shimmery and the wall matt making it stand out a little more, i have no advice except to change the wall colour even though it is a great colour!
