Our bathroom is 6ft x 8ft we're having it ripped out and redone. I want it to be a calm but modern room. So far I've chosen a 1500mm bath and a wall hung vanity unit to give the look of more space.

There is no natural light so I'm not sure what colours to use that will keep it looking fresh but calming.

We're going for splash panels around the bath wall and will paint the rest of the bathroom so no tiles at all.

Does anyone have any good ideas of how best to use this small bathroom and make it appear bigger and sort of spa like?

A mirror on one entire wall might help.

Shelves that you can put fancy jars of bath salts and candles on. That should make it a bit spa like but will only help it look bigger if you would have had a piece of furniture instead of the shelves.

Yes I thought about a mirror along 1 wall, here's our bathroom as it is now.

We're putting the bath where the sink and toilet are, then the toilet and sink on the wall where the bath was. We have a recessed shelving area currently at the end of the bath which I want to be able to store towels etc.

Also I want a wall hung vanity with a drawer but can't find one I like.

What colours should we go for? I was thinking about a pale grey? Dove grey?

The space at the end of the bath is currently wasted - the room will feel more spacious if you put the bath into that recess.

What is the blocked off bit behind the door. Is it a cupboard? Could it be incorporated into the bathroom to give you a bit more space?

The space at the end of the bath is recessed shelving which is great for storage. The blocked off bit is the other side of our wardrobe hate our house

Have you thought about a free standing bath, you can get acrylic ones that aren't as £££'s as they used to be, but we have just put one in an 'odd shaped' bathroom and it looks WOW!

Are you planning on having a shower over?

Not convinced about a wall sized mirror - won't it get steamed up?

I think you will regret getting a 1500mm bath - you won't be able to lie in it. I agree with pp that you should put the bath into the recessed space, it will mean the bathroom feels more spacious. I think swapping the bath with the sink & toilet is also a mistake.

Our bathroom is 2.6m x 1.8m so v similar to yours (newly formed last year). I was concerned it would look small so visited a trillion bathroom showrooms and also lots of newbuild houses that all tend to have smallish bathrooms. With only 1 or 2 exceptions, where the space was similar, the bath was where you have it now. Also as another pp has said I'd say 8 out of 10 new build bathrooms have a full wall of mirrored cabinets (above sink & toilet) or a mirror that was the full wall behind the bath.

Other ideas - back to wall toilet with build in cistern, no clutter, light colours.
