What colour should I paint this wall?

I've recently painted the whole living room but none of it looks quite right, so I need some help. The wall is more pale grey/blue than it looks in this pic and I need guidance!

What colour should I paint this wall?

Ah, so similar, but not quite the same. Thanks ThecontentedcatSmile.

I like cool, rather than warm. I'm trying for a scandi look and failing miserably How about charcoal on the sofa wall and white on the opposite wall? Is that too much of a contrast?

Tbh, scandi look would dictate using only white.
At least it would all be uniform though.

Ahem

This is my job, go for something warmer it will bring the room to life.
Or don't, it's your house Grin

Would frosting the glass keeping it looking white rather than dark? I think a seafoamy colour would be nice.

Yellow (pale gold or mustard, not sunshine)and paint the brown wood in the glass door white.

Actually i'd paper the wall with a yellow and white or white and grey or grey and blue geometric print and expect to change it in a couple of years when I like something else.

Or coral like in cat's link. That's fabulous!

Where did you get your sofa?

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 10/04/2017 19:51

Actually I love that coral so much I think I might paint my living room in it!

There is no brown wood in the glass door. It's a clear glass panel - it's just dark behind it so it looks like dark glass but it isn't.

I just can't bring myself to do a colour on the wall. I've been living with the darker grey for a week or so and its growing on me plus I'm not sure I can be arsed to paint it yet again

I'd go with a very dark grey with bluish undertones - something like benjamin moore abyss or evening dove (not sure you have Benjamin Moore in UK but if you google the colour you will see)

supadupapupascupa · 12/04/2017 14:48

i'd go for a rose pink

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 12/04/2017 15:10

Thank you for sofa info :)

You could always put hang some prints or paintings on the walls to add a bit of colour without the hassle of actually painting the walls again.

I'm going to paint one of my walls coral and see how I feel about the rest.

Ooooo I'm loving evening dove - it's bloody gorgeous. Don't think we have Ben Moore tho in uk but I can always get B&Q to colour match. Abyss is maybe just a bit too dark - it's borderline black!

I have evening dove in my bedroom and it is gorgeous - especially with white trim.

My son wanted something as dark and I suggested abyss which is one shade darker in the series -mostly because I wanted him to have a different colour. To be honest, his bedroom looks even better than ours - it is a really dark grey, not as dense as black but very deep and looks stunning against white woodwork - plus any colour looks great in it. he has a small enough room too.

Thecontentedcat · 13/04/2017 21:53

Evening dove is lovely and would also work, although it is best with some contrast as pp said, so do think about that, it will go well with your floor and has warm undertones even though it is a cool colour.
I always think if you are painting a room just be bold, you can always paint it again!
But I am also the kind of person that buys 10 tester pots of almost identical colours, paints onto large sheets of wallpaper lining and pins them up for a week so I can see the colour in different lights...

Stiffkey blue was mentioned on another thread and looks gorgeous. I've just used Valspar Carriage Wheel in my bathroom and is a deep grey full of warmth but has a blueish undertone, not purple but might go well with ur other wall and save u repainting. Tester pots r ur new friend! Hope goes well and rem to post how it turns out.
