Are chevrons too trendy?

We're moving soon and will need new curtains for most rooms as the windows are massive - too big for pre-made so we're going to have to make them.

I'm stuck for the 2 children's rooms, 4 year old boy and 1 year old girl. I saw a lovely fabric in John Lewis but at £16 a metre it would be £160 just for the fabric and lining, and I haven't found anything I like as much. I'm now wondering if chevrons could be good, as I want something that will last and they won't grow out of in a year or two, no characters or really babyish designs. Because the windows are so huge it would be expensive to replace them!

My main worry is that chevrons are very "now" and will look dated soon. So, is this true?

Chevrons are already 'over' in terms of being really trendy in interiors, but that shouldn't stop you if you want to go for them!

My sitting room has a John Lewis grey chevron rug, and although it probably wouldn't be my first choice if I were buying today, I do still really like it - and the neutral colour helps a lot, as it's not as much of a feature. I'd say small chevrons also have much more longevity than large patterns (unlike my rug, oops).

I'm thinking about doing Chevrons for my daughters bedroom-Jane Churchill I think? I'm picking them because they are in different colours & I plan to keep them for years.
