A bit too much? Tell me what you think.

Our bedroom is two floors up and has huge windows. We have off-while walls (Debutante's Gown) and a polished oak floor, but it gets so much light that it can sometimes feel a bit bleached out.

I'm wondering about a feature wall to add colour, though I know they're a bit passé. Are they naff beyond consideration now?

If not, the wall we'd have to use is behind the bed. It's side-on to the windows. The windows have roman blinds made in this fabric last year so I'm not prepared to change them:

I've fallen in love with the (stupidly expensive) BluebellGray wallpaper in wisteria garden. It's very bright. But I think the room can take it. Will it look stupid next to the blinds because they're also a print, but different fabric?

You need a wallpaper to match the blinds, they don't go at all.

Cole and son have some lovely wallpapers - there's one called Woods which might go pretty good

If not is that cow parsley in the blinds? A search on wallpaper direct for Cow parsley might yield something.

JL do the matching cow parsley wallpaper but it's pale so isn't going to add the colour I'd like.

If I was redecorating from scratch I'd start with the wallpaper but the blinds are too nice and new to ditch.

Feature walls are only 'naff' on mumsnet. Practically everyone my husband decorates gets them. In houses of all different sizes. Look on rightmove and the majority of houses have them.

I like that paper, it's your bedroom and you should do whatever you want with it not what mumsnet says.

Does the paper not match the blinds? ...they seem quite a decent colour....enough to give a bit of oomph instead of off white.

This will match the blinds and had a sparkle thread all the way through that will lovely in the sunlight.

Could you do a feature wall of a darker shade of duck egg blue? A muted shade rather than bright.
I think that would look nice, I don't like matchy matchy.

I'd do a feature wall in a strong paint colour - like a darker/more vibrant shade of the colour in the blind. Two patterns would annoy me :)

I like both things but they don't match. I'm not talking get both the same but at least pick one colour out of the patterned item to use on the other.

I like them together, but if you are in doubt put a big sample onto the wall with masking tape and live with it for a while to see.

(Re the naffness: that would be precisely because every house on rightmove has 'em. Apparently the thing to do to keep ahead of the curve is paper two walls... in any case, you do what you like in your own house!)

I spoke to an interior designer last week & he said feature walls are still very fashionable but instead of a bold contrast or pattern use differed shades of the same colour or different textures.

I'd go for a dark wall in a colour that complements those lovely blinds. We have a v light attic room and have used a storm grey for 3/4 of the walls. I was worried it'd feel oppressive but actually it makes it v calm and sanctuary-like. Anything lighter was just too much.

I don't think they match (although that paper is lovely!) and according to interior designers, you shouldn't match walls with soft furnishings/curtains/blinds, so I wouldn't get the same wallpaper as blind either.

I wonder if you would be better repainting the whole room with a darker neutral? Or maybe just painting the feature wall a darker colour.

I am in the opposite predicament, I have a feature wall painted Stiffkey Blue and want a bedroom with just one light colour now!
