Window Shutters in Kitchen (pics)

Sorry for yet another thread - I can't seem to trust my own judgement.

We've just had window shutters put up in the kitchen, and I wasn't expecting the wood to be so nice. The plan was to paint them white, but it seems a shame to hide the wood grain now they're up. So then I thought a white wash might be a good compromise, but each time I've mentioned it to people, they've subtly suggested any other option possible except white wash.

So the other options I've had suggested are:

Paint the same colour green as fireplace wall
Wax them
Put a brown stain on
Paint white
(And my suggestion of white wash)

So, MNers, I leave it up to you to help decide...

They're lovely! I think I would wax them in a clear wax if such a thing exists?

Clear wax. They are lovely!

Aaah, it's like they have little smiley faces (unhelpful, I know!)

Your kitchen is gorgeous Envy

Not the same colour as the wall, too matchy matchy. Whitewash would look a bit unfinished compared to your fairly sophisticated colours. Paint white or clear wax.

Clear wax is what the carpenter suggested which makes me think it could be the wisest choice. I think I'm just worried there will be too many shades of wood colour with the floor and table, although I'm not a huge fan of the floor colour so will probably end up putting a big rug down to hide it anyway.

I hadn't noticed the mini faces Grin
