Sorry for yet another thread - I can't seem to trust my own judgement.
We've just had window shutters put up in the kitchen, and I wasn't expecting the wood to be so nice. The plan was to paint them white, but it seems a shame to hide the wood grain now they're up. So then I thought a white wash might be a good compromise, but each time I've mentioned it to people, they've subtly suggested any other option possible except white wash.
So the other options I've had suggested are:
Paint the same colour green as fireplace wall
Wax them
Put a brown stain on
Paint white
(And my suggestion of white wash)
So, MNers, I leave it up to you to help decide...
