Paint colour suggestions for bedroom, living room

So finally got dh to not go for magnolia (woohoo!) :) and be creative in our paint choices!

Been trying to figure out a good paint colour for our west facing bedroom- it doesn't get much light as there is a huge tree in the neighbours garden that blocks so it remains quite cool all year round and abit dark. We have got a dark brown wood bed and most of the cupboard/drawers are medium/dark wood. Plan to change the curtains. Am thinking a muted gold pastel colour (buttercream?) or a pink pastel (tea rose) from the dulux paint range - what are your thoughts? Looking for something that would make the bedroom feel abit warmer...and hopefully bit brighter. Open to suggestions. :)

Also, instead of magnolia, what other creams would work for the hallway/living room? Again, our living room is west facing and has only one window which doesn't give much light into the room, so would like something to brighten...

And finally Ds & dd are sharing a bedroom - dd (4yrs) wants a pink wall and Ds (15mths) is of course too young but I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate a pink room. In any case, the room is east facing and above the kitchen so is one of the warmest rooms in the house! So I wonder if pink will warm it up too much, I've suggested green/purple or blue - any light pastel colours to suggest?

Would prefer pastel and not solid colours as I like a light wall colour which isn't too bold looking.

Please enlighten me! Grin

All depends on the effect you want really...

Watch this for some tips -

For your bedroom I'd think about when you spend time in there and what quality the light has. If you're only ever in the bedroom to sleep with the curtains closed, the sunlight won't have much sway on what you choose. The sun sets in the west so you'll get evening sun in there - so if it feels cold in the mornings and you want to warm it up, choose a warm colour (red/orange/yellow spectrum).

What about a pale grey for the kids' bedroom? You could them team with pink/lilac accessories on your DD's side but equally it would work with any other colours on your DS's side.

Have a look at Valspar colours, I think their choices seem more sophisticated than Dulux (and the paint is better quality/nicer to paint with).

Also Pinterest for inspiration!

That's a great video! Helped explain a lot !

Having a think about living room - which is similar to the vid - west facing - going to check out a warm colour - thinking orchid white. And same for my bedroom - we only use it mostly to sleep in it.

Dd is set on turquoise now which is not a bad choice as its got hints of blue-green and will cool that room down.

Thank you hero! :)
