Do you still have an airing cupboard with a combi-boiler?

Ok, stupid question on the way:
I have a conventional boiler, so a water tank in the airing cupboard, which is then kept warm.

If I replace with a combi-boiler, so won't need the water tank for hot water anymore, will the airing cupboard still be kept warm?

I can see lots of pipes in there, but don't have a clue what they are for exactly. I wish they could teach basic plumbing at school... Does anyone knows?

Nope. We have a cupboard with the boiler in but it's not warmed at all by the boiler.

No, we have our combi boiler in the kitchen....the old airing cupboard is now a shower!

Our house was fitted with a combi as a new build, we have an airing cupboard with a radiator in it.

But in general, no, as you won't have a hot water tank losing heat in the airing cupboard it won't have a heat source.

thank you, was afraid of that Sad

(the actual boiler is in another room). Good idea about the radiator, might have to look at that!

if you want an airing cupboard, and ask for it, you can have one. If not, no.

Remember that you are not obliged to have a combi. Modern condensing boilers are available that are not combis, but have all the efficiency benefits (and use less gas in summer). As they are less complicated than combis they tend to go wrong less often and to last longer than combis of equivalent quality, and are smaller and quieter. If you have more than two adults and more than one bathroom, a modern unvented cylinder with a conventional or system boiler may suit you better.

thank you PigletJohn, sounds like I have loads of research to do!
