new kitchen - matt or gloss and other questions!

We are extending the house and have pretty much settled on a handless german kitchen in our new kitchen/dining/livingroom. It will be made up of a L shape 3m base unit only wall run with sink, 2m long high units with oven and freestanding american fridge freezer and a 2.4x1.2m island with hob. It is in a modern extension with large sliding aluminuim external doors.
We are really struggling with the look and feel. At the moment we have settled on matt units as i am concerned the gloss in the facing room will always have finger marks. DH isn't so sure. We are also really undecided on colour- would light grey/ and dark grey with a white shade quarz (silestone) look good or would grey just be boring? Ahh - you can see I am in a muddle!

I have opted for matt purple units as I am bored of the White/ cream gloss and feel grey is a bit cold. It is a tough decision as it is expensive to make a mistake! ( keeps fingers crossed it looks good when it is in).

We are going for a cashmere colour and having gloss and handless, my house is modern and just find white was to clinical looking (as it a big kitchen) cream looked liked someone has been smoking in the kitchen and grey is lovely but just like warm colours and just would not go with the rest of the deco of the house.. I fell in love when I saw the cashmere gloss and going for Encore Sparkle Chocolate Sparkle..... which is this colour in the picture www.theartofbespoke.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Living-16-6-023-660x350.jpg

If you are going for white matt handle less, How about having that on top & a different finish below or vice versa? The German kitchen companies I looked at frequently showed that, and it injects some warmth and character. Also as the extension is onto the garden, wood could be a good choice instead of colour as it looks more organic?
Worktop can be any colour, but plain white would look quite clinical. Small flecks stop that (& hide crumbs et so you're not endlessly wiping!)

Thanks -we are going matt - decision made! We've been looking at lots of kitchens. We are leaning to a light cream/ sandy colour at the moment and one of the blanco silestone colours. Just a bit worried it might look a bit samey. Floor will be light engineered wood - going for a scandi look hopefully.

Matt kitchen doors do tend to look whiter than the gloss white doors, well they did when I was looking anyway:-)
