Just started stripping wallpaper for the first time in years.

Can't remember - do you leave the lining paper on, or take it right down to the plaster?

TIA

We take back to the plaster to be sure the next paper or paint adheres properly

Thanks!

Do you then prime the plaster?

I would. and I did.

I very much doubt you'd manage to save the lining paper even if you tried. It will come off along with the wallpaper.

We have never then primed the plaster underneath.

BUT that's because I planned on painting. I don't know if you need to prime if you are going to put wallpaper up.

I stripped layers and layers of wallpaper. it was very common for people to wallpaper over wallpaper.

I'll be painting over the plaster, so will need to prime, I'm pretty sure.

Getting the glue off is important as sometimes you can't even see it. i like to give the plaster a light sand and new seal especially if I have had to fill if any previous paint or plaster that has come off with he paper.

Thanks all.
