Farrow&Ball Suggestion East facing bedroom

I am moving at the end of March and would like to paint the bedroom before I move in. In my last bedroom I wasn't as brave as I wanted to be and chose F&B Clunch with white furniture. The new bedroom will have blackbrown furniture and will be east facing. Any suggestions?

What colour is the floor?

What period is the house?

What style is your favourite?

Personally I like a very relaxing green/blue thing in the bedroom. I have 'Blackened' in mine and it looks pale grey in some lights, pale blue in others. I've also got a bit of a thing at the moment for Little Greene Pearl Colour Dark (or Mid) - it's a lovely bluey greeny grey, I'm just trying to find somewhere to use it.

Thanks Devora,

Please find attached a picture. The room is quite large though, around 300 sq feet, but that's the only picture I took. Whatever the white thing is on the side it will be gone once I move in. They used it for storage or something. Not sure.

I guess the thing with bedrooms is whether you like it fresh and airy, or cosy and warm-feeling, or dramatic. As I say, I like a restful pale blue/green/grey wall, but you might be burning for Brinjal or something more womb-like?

Having said that, with that floor and black/brown furniture and east facing, I still like my first suggestions. What will you have on the windows? I have long purple silk curtains, which go very well (rare touch of opulence - I'm not a boudoiry type). I have a metal (what's that dark grey brushed metal?) bed in an unusual style - it looks 20s - and my bed linen is pale: either white with blue or I have a cheap-as-chips white with retro yellow flowers which really cheers me up.

If you like a stronger colour, I'm thinking one of the lovely F &B blues - Oval Room Blue or Light Blue?

Strangely, I don't use blue anywhere else in my house (or red), but I do like it in a bedroom.

Am I getting over-invested in your bedroom, Wanderlusting? Is it because I've spent the last three weeks painting tester pots onto the sitting room wall and I still can't find the right colour?

Wanderlusting · 13/03/2015 21:21

No, no Devora. I really appreciate all your advise. I worry that Blackened will go too much into grey though. I am browsing Houzz.com tonight. I don't want to spend a fortune on testers though. I am in Germany at the moment and F&B costs a lot more here than in England. A tester costs 8€.

Do you get Little Greene out in the land of my forefathers?

Wanderlusting · 14/03/2015 10:15

Yes, there is one stockist here in Cologne.

I have Light Blue in an east facing kitchen and it's gorgeous. It's blue or grey or green depending on the time of day, the weather, the time of the year. I can't imagine ever getting tired of it.

Devora · 14/03/2015 23:31

I've just discovered Light Blue, mineallmine, and I'm itching to use it somewhere. That and Pearl Colour...

Another light blue user here, I love it! I did cheat though and got it colour matched at B&Q. Looks exactly the same.

Have we convinced you yet, WanderLusting? Smile
