Kitchen; will off white walls look dirty if we have white cabinet doors?

Dh and I are about to revamp our kitchen.
We plan to replace the current cupboard doors with matt white shaker style doors and also change the countertops from dark grey to oak (laminate) This is driven by the whole of our downstairs being pretty much open plan - there are walls dividing rooms but not doors - large openings instead of doors. The kitchen is seen from most areas if you're downstairs and the current colour scheme no longer works with the rest of downstairs - it's dark and we like pale colours and wood.
Other than the living room all the walls interconnect in some way so it's impossible to have a feature wall. We have painted throughout downstairs an antique white but when I look online at white kitchens most images which give the look I like have very bright white walls or a bold colour, not something we can achieve unless we start again and paint everywhere white or get away with off white.
Our floors are light wood.

We had the walls of the kitchen painted in timeless dulux which is an off white and it looked terrible with the white gloss units. We repainted in just walnut dulux which looks good with it. I am thinking of repainting it in homebase fresh linen colour as we have done the living room in this and it is a lovely neutral colour.

Hmmm, sounds as though we'll need to change in order to show off the white properly.

Do you have tiles with your white scheme skyland?

I don't think you have to choose between pure white or a strong colour, there are plenty of shades of white, some more grey or chalky, or warmer without edging into creamy, which would, I agree, look odd next to white gloss.

Have a look on Pinterest, search 'shades of white' in home decor for lots of ideas Smile

Good idea, weaned myself off Pinterest a couple of years ago - loved it but it stole a lot of time. Ill have to log in with a set time limit Grin

If the oak works in your new scheme could you flip it round and have oak cabinets and a white worktop? The worktop will be more forgiving in blending with other whites than white cupboards would be.

I have taupe tiles and oak work tops with the white gloss units. I have just bought a purple sofa for the kitchen so I am looking at paint charts myself again. In fact I bought 3 different colours yesterday and I'm not sure where they are for yet! I bought fresh linen, soothing white from homebase range and white mist from dulux. It is buy one get one free on homebase 5 litre paint just now and buy one get one half price on the dulux. I also have overtly olive which is lovely with white units and oak but is a bit dark for my kitchen which doesn't get a lot of direct sunlight.

I did wonder about flipping it to be oak doors and white countertops but we have wooden floors so the wooden doors next to wooden floors puts me off.

Still unable to make a decision!
