....that is not the conventional ceramic burners that you put a tea light into! And NOT one of those reed thingies either!

I went into a health shop recently that had one on display, it shot out jets of scented steam, you put a few drops of oil inside with water is what I could gather. I was in a rush so didn't enquire further.
Can't see one on Holland and Barrett's website
What is the proper name for such a product? Really want one as it seems more effective than the tea light burners, and safer as I have pets.
any recommendations or know any on offer?
thanks

Has anyone used one?

I recently started another thread about home air fresheners - and this wasn't mentioned. It sounds very good - and avoids the hassle / fiare hazards of tea lights. But wondered whether anyone has used as 45 is quite a lot to trial an air freshener if it's not that great.

thanks. would love one, maybe a bit cheaper than £45 but will look around...now i know what the name is!

You want an ultrasonic diffuser. Doesnt use heat safer and preserves properties of the oils. www.google.co.uk/search?q=zen+aroma+diffuser&client=ms-android-orange-gb&source=univ&tbm=shop&sa=X&ei=yQK4VLc3x6xT8J-AUA&ved=0CBwQsxg&biw=320&bih=460

Cool - thanks. Loads on Amazon with quite detailed reviews. Will try for some low bids on eBay - and if not successful, will get one full price and post back once I've tried it out

I used a humidifier for this, it was around £20 or less, I have used essential oils in it. You can also use it with menthol or olbas to ease chesty colds. I've also used pot pourri and fragrance oils for stronger scents.

Ah - seems you can't use all oils - 'Corrosive oils such as Citrus, Citronella and Lemon should be avoided as they can cause permanent damage to the unit'.

Not quite sure what a 'corrosive' oil is

fizzzog · 15/01/2015 22:34

If you clean and wipe it out after it should be fine.

I only want one for essential oils... can't stand anything synthetic
