Any ideas on how to make the most of a box room for dd1?

The room is 3m long and 2m wide.

We don't have a lot of room to play with.

I have bought stuva ikea wardrobe and desk so that's one wall taken up.

Along the other wall, will be her bed. It's not a high bunk yet but I do plan to get one.

That leaves two free walls, one has a window, one has the door.

I'm not sure how she will fit all her stuff in. She has a lot of books and things she likes to keep safe from her younger sisters.

Any ideas?

I know they are little bit like marmite (you love them or hate them) but we have re-did DS' room over the summer and got a high sleeper. I thought it would make the room look extremely small but it doesn't. He has a very narrow wardrobe (floor to ceiling with storage at the top) on the wall where the door is, and then the head of the bed is on that wall too - extending along the wall at right angles. My H made a corner desk underneath and he has a futon underneath that too (a bit like this)
high sleeper

He has a tall boy chest of drawers (very narrow) and one of the Ikea Expedit cube units (with 8 cubes), some with doors, for all his games and books. A blind instead of a curtain, all unfussy decor and it really is lovely.

That's a lovely bed. I am planning to get her a high sleeper ti give her more room.

Your ds room sounds lovely.

Blinds instead of curtains are a good idea.

I was thinking of putting shelves on the walls for books as I don't think there will room for a bookcase or an Expedia unit.

you could get a high sleeper with bookshelves. What were you thinking would go underneath the high sleeper if you have a separate desk?

I would put the desk into dd2 and dd3 room

A friend has done this for her daughter: fold down desk fitted to one wall with folding chair, cabin bed under window, fitted wardrobes - shelf behind bed head, small built in bedside drawer unit, bridging unit above bed head and drawers, combination of wardrobe and cupboard with shelves into corner of room up to door frame going all the way up to the ceiling, high level cupboard fitted above the door with the bottom in line with the picture rail. Maximum storage in a small room with room still to move about. There are also a couple of wall shelves on the wall at the foot of the bed.

Thanks Wowfudge. Great ideas to look into Smile

We did 8 year old ds's teeny tiny box room last year. I think his is 2m x 2m so not much room to play with. But we got him and ikea stuva wardrobe, it's tall and narrow and surprisingly big enough for all his clothes. A small narrow billy bookcase, floating shelves, Fold down wall desk and folding chair. He didn't want a high sleeper so we got him a 3ft wide divan with sliding drawers. It's a special length 3 inches shorter than a standard bed but should see him through to teenage years. The drawers are brilliant and hold his hundreds of soft toys. We screwed the headboard directly to the wall and put up a blind. We also have his door pulling outwards onto the landing to save space. I've got a few photos on my profile. They're not great photos but give you some idea. Unfortunately we can't move so are making the best of the situation and considering a loft room at some point if we are still here when he gets to six foot!

changing door to open outwards in genius. I am trying to work out what to do with our box room and that might open up possibilities.

I wasn't sure at first about having the door opening outwards as I thought it would be odd compared to the other doors but you don't really notice it as it's the same style as all the others. The other option we had was one of those bifold ones but I wasn't keen as I thought it would just draw your eye to the problem.
