Anyone used a cassette roman blind kit?

I've just discovered you can buy complete roman blind kits ready to add your material to. They have a cassette mechanism that cords go into at top so no need to fit barton and hooks on wall. Has anyone used these? I'm attempting to make blinds over 250cm width.

I've never tried the kits, but I did make my first roman blind recently, and I imagine the kit would simplify it about 25%. For one thing, you wouldn't have to think about what bits you need to get together, and where to get them from, and for another, attaching my home-made assembly to the wall was a bit of an arse.

I actually found most of the challenge was in accurate measuring, measuring, measuring again, and then cutting, and I'm a reasonably proficient seamstress. There was only one room with enough open space to spread the damned thing out, and that has a bit of a wonky floor. But the real killer was the fabric was printed off-grain, so what started as 5cm spare all round rapidly diminished to a quarter inch seam allowance in places! It's so much more of a precision job than curtains, but fortunately it ended up absolutely spot on, so very satisfying.

Well done Sandthorn. Measuring for blinds is grisly, ime.

Yes I've got them. Bought them when my old ones broke. I like them as Imuch prefer the roller/chain system to a cord/cleat hook. You just need to be careful where they are going....I have 3 in a bay window and my wood frames are quite decorative (sash windows) and the blind was a little tricky to sit flush as my frame isn't totally flat. I imagine on a flat window or ceiling mount you would be fine.

Yes I've used one very successfully, flat window though, fitted into the recess underneath the top rather than at the back. It was about a meter square.
