Rewriting a light fixture

I am really struggling with finding a local electrician to rewire a vintage ceiling light. It's from 30s in original condition so definitely has to be rewired. I found a specialised workshop in Shropshire but I really don't want to drive there from south east. Our electrician has no suggestions. Even if you don't live in south east but managed to find somebody what did you do?

Have you tried googling electrical repair shops? The kind of little places that fix toasters and sewing machines? Or failing that, ask around a few antique shops about where they would go. There absolutely will be somebody local to you who can do this kind of thing, it's just a case of finding the right search terms!

Thank you so much. You got me inspired and I found a place that specialises in rewire which is reasonably close. I would be quite wary of an electrician agreeing to the job without knowing what it involves. It's a bizarre thing about British tradesmen, they are very specialised. One of them who was good at wiring plugs etc agreed to rewire the chandelier. He unscrewed lots of things and then just brought it back with arms hanging off. Nothing is missing but I am overly cautious now.
