Blinds/Curtains on inward opening windows…..

Ok; haven't searched extensively on here so sorry if it's been done already. New build, wanted Roman Blinds on 2 bedroom windows. Big windows (1.47mX 1.78m). They open inwardly (tilt in towards room)for ventilation & also the top pane opens like a door as a fire escape route. Wanted blackout. Lady came & measured. Bought fabric as per measurements. She came to fix batons last night & realised that we weren't going to be able to open the windows if we went ahead with Roman Blinds. Neither of us realised this at the time of measuring!! Thankfully they haven't been made yet…..

Anyone have any ideas? She reckons we have enough fabric for curtains with a small drop, but not really fussed & def want blackout so reckon curtains won't be adequate on their own anyway…..

Could you have a roman blind but fix the baton some distance above the window - so when the roman blind is pulled up all the way, the bottom edge ends before the window, so you can still open the window?

You might need a longer blind this way though...

We would need more of the fabric for that Mini, but may have to do that. Thk you.

we have tilt and turn windows, with venetian blinds. They're fixed about half way into the recess, on the "ceiling" of the recess....when the blind is fully up you can hold it back and the window will still open fully door wise.

We do have very deep sills and recesses though...I also have curtain poles and fake curtains on the window wall.

Otherwise, minipie's idea is workable, fabric permitting.

I bought 'perfect fit' black out roller blinds that fit into the double glazing seal for my tilt n turn windows, very very happy with them...

We have perfect fit pleated blinds in our tilt and turn (so inward opening) windows. Like Mum4, very pleased with them.

Thk you all. Checking out Perfect Fit. Found a Company with blinds called 'Duette' which seem to make blinds for awkward spaces so checking that out too..

Okay; I've looked at Perfect Fit & I think they'll do the job. Are they blackout though? Doesn't look like there's that option. Any of you have coloured ones? And lastly, are they a fortune to buy? I know the website says 'from only blah blah', but usually by the time I'm done on these sites, in my basket is a hefty sum of whatever….TY.

I have black out in the bedrooms, mine are black (monochrome bedroom), and DS has blue. Is search out a local co and have them come along and measure up for the best fit.Mine took less than a week from measure to installation.DS room has the big fire escape window,it cost ÂŁ110, my room has 2 windows, they were ÂŁ75 each. Well worth it in my opinion Smile

oh mum4fergus please tell me you are in Wales, those prices are really good. Can I ask what size windows. We have a large bay window to deal with with the same problem plus we need thermal control as it is west facing.
