I'd like to get it pre cut to size, and for it to be very sturdy and good quality.

Bought one from argos in an emergency and it broke almost instantly. DS cant sleep cos his room is too light..aarrggh.

Recommendations for tried and trusted would be very much appreciated.

thanks MN angels.

The IKEA blackout blinds are good (and cheap), but you have to cut them yourself.

They have launched one that doesn't have the cord thing at the side (two cut out handles in the blind edge instead), which are obviously much safer. I haven't get tried one of those though, so don't know if the quality is as good as the corded ones.

Thankyou Happy. I'm looking to order online, don't have an ikea near me!

John Lewis - not cheap but good quality & lasts. Had one for DS in old house 6+ yrs no problems, blocked out street light just outside window.

Oh gosh, just had a look on there, wonky, as seemed a great idea. But the reviews are terrible?!

Is this just a case where only the dissatisfied bother to leave a review?!

I got some good ones from tescos direct which we fitted a couple of years ago

I have a John Lewis one too which is fine.

I bought a 'perfect fit' blackout roller blind from a local company,£110 but absolutely worth every penny (I've just ordered same for rest of the bedrooms), the bold fits into the double glazing seal so there is no residual light from around the blind. If I close DS blind even in a bright sunny day his room is pitch black...love it Smile

I ordered online from a company called blinds 247 (I hope I'm remembering that right!) and it was about £40 for a made to measure black out blind. It's not perfect as light seeps round the sides, but I thought it was pretty good for the price.

We just ordered the most basic style so the more expensive ones let a little less light in!

I got mine from ikea, but had looked at Next, John Lewis etc

Does anybody know if it's better to order a 'spring loaded' blind?

Blinds 2go were amazing, got a huge one for our kitchen window. Made to measure for the price of cut it yourself.

I'm really pleased with them.
