How to fully wallpaper a bedroom without it looking overwhelming or dated?

I am bored of wallpaper feature walls and want to fully wallpaper my soon to be bedroom. Its 13'7 by 11"6 and I am wanting a really soft floral look, almost like the paper is self patterned, in a silver or bluey colour. How do I do it without the walls looking overwhelmed or looking like 80s chintz? Imagine [http://www.lauraashley.com/uk/wallpaper/cottonwood-white-leaf-wallpaper/invt/3485116 this colour scheme] but with this kind of print

I can't remember the last time I saw a fully wallpapered room apart from this style of stipe and I really think I want something softer.

well I have no experience of wallpaper (about to get some though) but I don't see why it can't work and look modern.

I think to stop it being overwhelming you would be best to keep all the other decor plain. so plain colours, no other patterns etc.

We are going to have wallpaper in the kids rooms for the first time in a month or so, one is going to be on 2 walls - I got the paper in the sales so only 2 rolls and they are quite dark and sparkly so any more would be very overpowering. the other room is very big. DD wants stripes so we are going to do one of the long walls, no point doing the wall with the window on as very little wall either side of the big window, another wall is a bit of fireplace, a fitted cupboard, a bedroom door and a wardrobe so not really worth papering that either (plus the wall isn't flat or straight so it wouldn't work) so we thought about doing the other wall as well so one long wall and one short wall but that would be another roll of paper (long wall is 2 full rolls) so we are just going to paint it.

mind I have never papered before so we may well end up with the wallpaper in the bin and just fresh paint.

oh and I love that cottonwood paper.

We have this and it's beautiful
Bloody expensive but looks incredible on, six years on and I've not tired of it

Ps I like your Sanderson link.
Think you need to combine with plain curtains etc so patterns aren't overwhelming and it will (hopefully - I can't say for sure as can't see your room!) work

Thanks for the tips. I was thinking of doing a plain blue curtain. Our bedding is always crisp white too. I might have to work out how many rolls I'd need though- it might be a tad expensive and I might need to find a good dupe for it.
