I'm going to start slowly replacing my ikea furniture that doesn't fall apart so easily.
I'm being harsh but my 9 year old Malm drawers are kaput. dp thinks that for £85 and considering how much they get filled, I should just get another set.

I need a dresser with 6 deep drawers in a vaguely scandi style. The problem with Malm is the base of the drawers are too weak.

Any suggestions for better quality replacements up to £200

Try looking in furniture charity shops?

I agree that 2nd hand furniture much better value than IKEA.

what's wrong with you current mall? if its just that the bottoms are falling out of the drawers, you could replace them. get some thin plywood and tack it in.

I always nail IKEA drawer bottoms into position- makes them last miles longer..

Malm now have a support beam (for want of a better word) along the base of the drawer, which makes it much stronger.

Second hand shops or auction houses often have sturdy drawers that you can upcycle with Annie Sloan paint.

I was about to say the same about the Malm draws, they have a metal support across the base. They seem really sturdy for the price. Everything we have from Ikea seems to be really solid.

I traded in my old caved in Malm drawers for John Lewis mixit drawers, the look like malm but better cites and stronger bases , seem sturdy so far, I got the grey gloss with white sides
